01-05-1939 Robert C. Baird, died at Athelstan Québec, at his late residence, age 90 years. He was born on the Ridge Road, Hinchinbrooke Québec, on June 03, 1849. He was a lifelong member of the Athelstan Presbyterian Church, Mr. Baird was a contemporary and lifelong friend of the late Lord Athelstan, founder of the Montreal Star. Funeral held in the Athelstan Presbyterian Church, services conducted by his pastor, Rev. W. Scott Duncan, assisted by the Rev. A Nimmo of Beauharnois Québec.

His wife passed away eight years ago. Surviving are four daughters and one son, Mrs. R. R.Rhoades, of Richland, F. J. Bassford of Constable New York, Mrs. W. E.Tatro, of Faust New York, Mrs. E.M Bissonette, of Valleyfield, and Mrs. Maurice Dow, of Utica New York.

01-11-1939 William Boyd, died at the home of his sister, Mrs. Matt Gilligan, on the Gore, Hinchinbrooke Québec, age 59 years. Mr. Boyd was born in Colorado, 59 years ago. He came with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Boyd, to Boyd's Liens, where he resided until 18 years ago. Since then he has made his home with his sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Matt Gilligan. Funeral service held at St. Paul's Church in Herdman Québec. He leaves to mourn, one sister, Mrs. Gilligan and one niece, Miss Viola Gilligan to whom the sympathy of the community is extended.

01-15-1939 Mrs. James Elvidge, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. C. R. Ellerton in Hemmingford Québec, age 94 years. She was formerly Elizabeth M. Canfield, born in Odelltown, Parish of Lacolle, on March 08, 1845. Daughter of Rosewell Canfield, and his wife, Amelia Odell. Siblings were, Mrs. Myron Evans of Clarenceville Québec, Mrs. Hamilton, of Worcester MA, Mrs. John Brisbin, of Lebanon NH, Mrs. Mastin, of Coaticook Québec, Mrs. Cook of Toronto Ontario, and one son, Rev. F. R. Canfield, of Chidster, Arkansas, two sisters remain, Mrs. Hamilton and Mrs. Cook. James Elvidge, who predeceased her 12 years ago, she had two daughters, Mrs. Albert Leonard, of Rouses Point New York, (deceased), and Mrs. Ellerton, who survives her. Also four grandchildren, Vernon and Wanita, Mrs. M. Upton, of this place, Marjorie and John of Toronto Ontario, four great-grandchildren, Gerald, Ronald and Raey, Ellerton and Walter Upton.

01-14-1939 Mgr. L. D. Grenier, died at Worcester MA, age 79 years, formerly of Beauharnois Québec. He was an officer of L'Academie Francaise of Paris, and twice was decorated by the French government for his services promoting the study of the French language. During his pastorate in Worcester, he built a school and contraband but was more widely known for his charities which kept him poor.

12-31-1938 Thomas S. Higgins, beloved husband of Emma J. Gaynor, formerly of St.Anicet Québec, died at Virginia City NV, age 74 years. He was assistant superintendent of the Virginia City Water Company for many years. He was born in St.Anicet Québec, and went to NV 50 years ago. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Joan Higgins, (nee Emma Jones Gaynor), two daughters, Mrs. J. F. Greenhagh and Mrs. Myra Fanning have Virginia City, a grandson, Francis Fanning, three brothers and two sisters, James M. Higgins of Berkeley, Michael Higgins of Texas, Jeremiah Higgins of Chicago, Ida Higgins of San Jose, and Mrs. John A Saumier of St.Anicet.

01-11-1939 Jennie Oliver, wife of James Ralston, and daughter of the late J. M. Oliver, died at Salem New York.

01-15-1939 Col. John Robertson, son of the late John Robertson and Margaret Ness of Howick Québec, died at Ponca City, Oklahoma. A military service was held and burial to place with a full military honors in National Cemetery, Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. Col. Robertson was born at Howick Québec, he graduated from McGill University as a veterinary surgeon and later joined the American army. He served in the Spanish-American war, served in Cuba, the Philippines, the Mexican border, and France during the world war. He is survived by two brothers, four sisters, and a sister-in-law, Robert Robertson of Amherst NS, David Robertson of Nelson BC, Mrs. John Currie and Mrs. Sidney Stewart of Howick Québec, Mrs. R. O. Hopkins of Waterville Québec, Mrs. H. E. Beatty of Montreal and Mrs. W.A.T. Robertson of Ponca City Oklahoma, the late Mrs. Parlan Macfarlane of Huntingdon was also a sister.

01-12-1939 Norval J. Parker, son of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Parker of Bombay New York, died at the Hepburn Hospital at Ogdensburg New York, age 29 years. He was born in St. Agnes de Dundee Québec, July 15, 1909, and moved to Bombay with his parents and 1917. Surviving relatives include his parents, two brothers, Vance and Gerald, who resided at home, two sisters, Miss Luella Parker of Rome New York, and Mrs. Burt Perry of Rensselaer Falls. Funeral held at the Methodist Church in Bombay, interred in the Hillside Cemetery, Hinchinbrooke Québec.

(Not dated) George H. MacRae Sr., died at his home, 833 Grand Avenue, St. Paul MN, age 69 years. He was born at Dundee Québec, and once resided in Fort Covington New York. He was general passenger agent of the Omaha Rail Road in St. Paul for 17 years prior to his retirement in 1928. Besides his wife he is survived by two daughters, Dorothy, and Mrs. Margaret Brunton of St. Paul, and two sons, Donald and George H. Jr., also of St. Paul, and a sister, Miss Margaret MacRae of Superior Wisconsin.

(Not dated) John Johnson, the oldest resident of this community, died at Athelstan Québec, the deceased was formerly of Montreal, but has made his home in Athelstan for many years. He was in his 92nd year. He is survived by three daughters, Mrs. James Lumsden, Mrs. Alva Wilson, and Mrs. John Fee, also four grandchildren. His wife predeceased him several years ago. Service held at the Athelstan Presbyterian Church, by the Rev. W. S. Duncan. Interred in the Athelstan Cemetery.

He was born in Montreal on February 18, 1892, son of Mr. Robert McCaig. He was married January 18, 1915, to Georgina Middleton Milne, who with their 10 children survive him. Alex, of St. Ann de Bellevue, Keith, May, students at McDonald College, John, Grace, Donald, Audrey, Harold, Dorothy and Eleanor, also his father in Montreal, his two sisters, Mrs. Harry Spence and Mrs. Horace Bolt of Montreal, and two brothers, Gordon of Toronto ON, and Alex of Ottawa ON. Funeral at St. Paul's United Church, service conducted by the Rev. C.L. Taylor, assisted by Rev. A F. Pollock, of Montreal.

01-14-1939 Thomas Gilligan, died at Roland Manitoba, age 92 years. He was born in Huntingdon Québec in 1846, he married Elizabeth Dawson of the same place in 1873. They came to Manitoba in 1892 and settled eight miles southwest of Roland. Some years later they retired to town where Mrs. Gilligan died in 1931. He is survived by one son, Lloyd, and two daughters, Mrs. C. McLean, of Roland, and Mrs. C. Purse, of Carmen Manitoba. Funeral services were held from Roland United Church, service conducted by the Rev. George McNeil. Interred in the Roland Cemetery. (Mr. Matt Gilligan is a nephew of the deceased).

01-26-1939 Elizabeth Rice, died at the residence of her niece, Mrs. Gladys MacGregor, of 7036 Louis Hebert Street, age 81 years. Interred at Huntingdon Québec. She was the second daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Rice, and she was born on the farm now occupied by William Sherry. Those left to mourn, one sister, Mrs. Rose Liddy of Montreal, four nieces, Mrs. G MacGregor, of Montreal, Mrs. J. Greig of Detroit MI, Miss Margaret Anne Rice, of Huntingdon, two nephews, Daniel Liddy, of Montreal and James Rice of Marmora ON. Funeral service held in St. Joseph's Church in Huntingdon, service conducted by the Rev. Herve Charlebois. Interred in the family plot there.

02-03-1939 John Cavanagh, died at the home of Mrs. Joseph Cavanagh, Hemmingford Québec, age 100 years. Mr. Cavanagh had been active up to the time of his death. He was a son of the late Michael Cavanagh, and had lived all his life here. His funeral service was held from the Roman Catholic Church.

02-06-1939 Damase D'Aoust, of Godmanchester Québec, died at Huntingdon Québec, age 89 years 11 months.

01-30-1939 Alice J. Cowan, widow of the late David Hamill, died at Franklin Center Québec, age 79 years. She was daughter of the late William Cowan and his wife, Alice Mosgrove of Franklin Center. She was born August 29, 1859, and was united in marriage to David Hamill of Covey Hills Québec, who predeceased her 25 years ago. She was a member of a family of ten children, who have all predeceased her, with the exception of her twin brother, Richard Cowan of Ormstown. Those left to mourn her loss, one son, William D. Hamill of Havelock, and two daughters, Eva, Mrs. Thomas Greenway, of Franklin Center, and Della, Mrs. James Smith of Roxham. Six grandchildren, Donald and Elsie Greenway, John and Lillian Hamill, Reginald and Marjory Smith, also her brother, Richard Cowan of Ormstown. A son John Elmer was accidentally drowned at Johnson VT in August 1913, a little son, Everett Arthur died in infancy. Interred in the Union Cemetery, Ormstown Québec

02-05-1939 Mr. Roy Ingeledew, died of pneumonia at Hemmingford Québec, age 50 years. He was born in Willsborough, Yorkshire, England. He leaves to mourn, his wife, he came hear from Georgeville Québec, nine years ago. Funeral services held at his home, service conducted by the Rev. W. A Howard. The remains were put in the vault until spring.

01-21-1939 James Freeland, died at his late residence, 2260 Dorchester Street West, Montreal Québec. He was the only son of the late John Freeland and his wife, a Liza Gardner, he was born in Huntingdon Québec in June 1865. He had three sisters who predeceased him. He was a carpenter by trade. He was united in marriage with Isabel Shepherd and to this union one son was born, John James Freeland. Funeral service conducted by the Rev. McLeod in Joseph C.Wrays Chapel, and interred in Huntingdon Québec.

Funeral services were held at St. Luke's Anglican's Church, service conducted by the Rev. W. A Howard. The body was placed in the Cemetery vault until burial in the spring.

02-09-1939 Nellie V. Oliver, died at Malone New York. Funeral services held from her home, 09 Huntingdon Street, in Malone New York on Saturday afternoon, service conducted by the Rev. T.N Johnson, pastor of the Baptist Church. Body was placed in Morningside vault to await burial in Huntingdon in the spring. Pallbearers were three nephews, William G. Goundry, of Huntingdon, Fred Groundry of Chateaugay, and Ernest W. Kelly of Malone New York, two grand nephews, Emard Kelly and Francis Kelly of Malone, and Rufus Kelly of Huntingdon.

Price, a Franklin Center Québec, beloved husband of Levina Fosburgh, died at the Hotel Dieu Hospital in Valleyfield Québec, age 62 years, he was son of the late George Price and his wife, Levine Stinson, formerly of this place. He had been a patient in the hospital for two months previous to his death, those left to mourn, are his wife, Levine F. M. Fosburgh, one sister, Mrs. Margaret R. Letson, a niece, Mrs. Donald David Durkee, one nephew, Mr. W. Francis Price, all of Ticonderoga New York. Funeral service from his home, conducted by his pastor, Rev. George Armstrong, assisted by the Rev. J. W. Watchhorn of Montreal. Interred in the Cemetery at Trinity Church, Havelock Québec. Graveside service conducted by the Rev. Canon Howard of Hemmingford Québec.

02-07-1939 Mrs. Robert Smith, died at Roxham Québec. She was formerly Mary Kyle, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Kyle of Robson. She was 74 years of age. She was united in marriage to Robert Smith of Roxham, who predeceased her several years ago. She had two brothers, James Kyle of Denver CO, Thomas Kyle of Robson, and a sister, Mrs. William Smith, who have all predeceased her. Those left to mourn, are one son, Arthur at home, and two daughters, Ruth, Mrs. Guy Wing, and Ettie at home, six grandchildren, Edith, Gladys, Russell and Howard Wing, Mildred and Jana Smith. Funeral services held from the home, service conducted by the Rev. V. Rose of Hemmingford. Interred in the Roxham Cemetery.

02-16-1939 Elzear Emard, beloved husband of Mrs. Emard, died at his late residents in Howick Québec. Age 36 years. Mr. Emard moved from St Chrysostome to Howick about three years ago, having bought out the store belonging to Mr. C. Jodoin. Funeral services held at the Catholic Church, service conducted by Rev. Father Delude of St. Martine. Left to mourn are his wife and two small children. The remains were taken to St Chrysostome for burial.

02-10-1939 Rev. Harry P. Edwards, died suddenly at Isle La Motte, VT, interred at Covey Hill Québec. He was pastor of Isle La Motte and south Alburg Methodist Episcopal Church's and financial secretary of the VT church council. He was born in Weston Super Mare, England, 59 years ago, and came to Covey Hill when seven years of age. He is survived by his wife, Annie Waddell Edwards, formerly of Havelock Québec, two daughters, Mrs. W. L Benson of Seawarren NJ, and Miss Kathleen Edwards, R.N., of Burlington VT, and a little granddaughter, Anne Benson. Funeral services held at the Methodist Episcople Church, in Isle La Motte, service conducted by the Rev. Eldon Martin of St. Johnsbury VT, district superintendent of the VT Methodist conference, the Rev. George E Robbins of Burlington, and the Rev. M. H. Sanderson of Montreal. The body was taken to Covey Hill Québec, service held in the Union Church, service conducted by the Rev. H. S. Belbin of Russeltown Québec, Rev. M. H. Sanderson, and the Rev. R. U. MacLean of Hemmingford and Covey Hill. Burial was in the family lot in Covey Hill Cemetery.

02-12-1939 Isaac Hadley, died at his home in Hemmingford Québec, age 82 years. Mrs. Hadley predeceased him twenty-three years ago last December. Funeral service held at his late residents, service conducted by the Rev. Robert U. McLean. The remains were laid to rest in the family plot in the local Cemetery.

He leaves to mourn, his wife, and three sons, Anicet, Ernest, Jean Charles, also has mother, Mrs. Antoine Latulippe, two brothers, Alberto of Valleyfield, Alfonse of Bombay New York, three sisters, Anna, who is at home, two who are in the religious order of the assumption nuns, sister St. Jean du Sauveur, of Ashton Junction, and sister Elie Anicet, from North Bay ON. Funeral service held at St. Agnes Québec.

02-13-1939 Jerry Ryan, formerly of Hemmingford Québec, died at the home of his sister, Mrs. William Goiney of Tupper Lake New York, age 68 years. He was son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Dan Ryan of Hemmingford Québec, 20 years ago he was in the immigration office here and resigned that position to accept one with the Dodge County, Detroit MI. Funeral services held at the Roman Catholic Church in Tupper Lake New York, the body was brought here and placed in the vault.

02-10-1939 Alfonse Fortin, died at his home near Trout River. He was born at St. Jean, Court Joli, Québec, on April 15, 1851. At the age of 21 he settled at Kensington where he became a blacksmith and Wheelwright, and also a salesman for the Canada carriage company. Left to mourn are his wife, the former Anna Solen, two daughters, Mrs. Vina Leahy of Wenatchee WA, and Mrs. Alf. Desjardins of Glenelm, two brothers, several grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

02-22-1939 Mrs. William Brown, (nee Susan Crutchfield, died at her late home, in Howick Québec, age 78 years. She leaves to mourn, her husband, and two daughters, Mrs. Albert McFarlane, and Mrs. John J. Peddie, both of Howick Québec, also three sisters, Mrs. James McClenaghan of Chicago IL, Mrs. G. McKeracher of Calgary AB, and Mrs. James Templeton of Howick Québec, 5 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. One daughter, Mrs. Edwin Knox predeceased her two years ago. Funeral service was conducted by the Rev. Dr. Gray and was held in the United Church, in Howick Québec. Interred in the Georgetown Cemetery.

02-20-1939 James Dillon, died at Port Arthur ON, he was born near Huntingdon Québec, but spent a good share of his life in Alaska, for some time past he has owned and operated a hotel at Schreiber ON. He was the brother of Mr. and Mrs. David Dillon of Malone New York, also of Alexander Dillon of the same village. Burial to place at Schreiber ON.

02-25-1939 Rev. Gorley Brown, formerly of Robson Québec, died at Richmond Québec. He was pastor at Robson about 25 years ago and was a frequent visitor at Robson for a number of years after that, much sympathy is left for the widow and family. Mr. Brown entered the Presbyterian College in Montreal in 1908 at the age of 42 and graduated in 1911. Funeral took place at Richmond, Québec,

02-11-1939 Walter Cavers, formerly of Ormstown Québec, died at Vernon British Columbia, age 77 years. He was born in Ormstown Québec, on March 13th, 1862. Surviving are his wife at Vernon, one son, James A, at Armstrong, one daughter, Annie, of Vancouver General Hospital, one sister, Mrs. James Hutchison and son, Jimmie, of Gluchen, AB, and one niece, Mrs. James Pedley of Kamloops British Columbia, also a number of nieces and nephews around Ormstown and vicinity. On March 16, 1937, they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary. Funeral services were held in the Knox Presbyterian Church, from Campbell's Brothers Funeral Home, service conducted by the Rev. G. L. Barber.

She was formerly Miss Lillian Lamberton, she and Mr. Cowan were married 51 years ago last month. Three daughters, Mrs. Holcombe of Chateaugay New York, Mrs. Hesseltine of Malone New York, and Mrs. Hamill of Havelock Québec, one son, David, in Detroit MI. Nine grandchildren, two brothers, George and David, and four nieces, Mrs. Dunn, and Mrs. Smaill of St. Grammy Québec, Miss Crowe of Hemmingford and Mrs. Ray Carr of Acadia Valley Alta. She was predeceased by a son, Albert in 1919, a brother, Alberta in 1936 and two sisters, Mrs. Crowe and Mrs. Watt.

Interred at Athelstan Québec. He was twice married, his first wife was Ellen Munro Sinclair, to which union there were born five children, John, Thomas, Mary, Arabella and Archibald. His second wife was the late Margaret Sinclair, and their children, Florence, William, Margaret, Mrs. Isaac St-Onge, John, Joseph, Stewart and Donald. He was the son of Thomas Hingston and Matilda Picard, and a nephew of the late Sir William Hingston. His grandfather was Col. Samuel Hingston of Ireland, an officer in the Napoleonic war. The late Mr. Hingston was himself a Fenian raid veteran.

There is no direct relationship between the MacArthur Ness family and the present Robert Ness family. Elizabeth McArthur married a Thomas Ness of Glasgow, an engraver, and one of the first inventors of colored lithographing, who died in early life at 36 years of age in St. Louis MO. The youngest daughter of the Elizabeth Ness is married to the second son of the late Mr. and Mrs. R. Ness of Howick, who is Dr. John Anderson Ness, of Maple Grove Farm, in Auburn Maine. Mrs Ness is also survived by two sons, Joseph M. and William Ness of Milwaukee Wisconsin, four grandsons, sons of Dr. and Mrs. Ness and one great-granddaughter. She is also survived by a sister, Mrs. Agnes Condie, widow of Robert Condie, of Condie Saskatchewan. Who a few years ago was honored by the Lake King George, as a daughter of the British Empire, for services rendered during the pioneer days at the time of the Riel Rebellion, also a brother, Daniel McArthur of Glencoe Illinois.

She was married to Archibald Stewart of Hemmingford in October 1888, and settled in Russeltown. To this union three daughters and one son were born, (Helen) Mrs. Norman O'Brien, (Jean), Mrs. Charles Lapoint, Annie and Willie Stewart. Her husband predeceased her almost 21 years ago. She is also survived by one grandson, three granddaughters and one great-grandson, two sisters, Miss Katie Freeland and Mrs. Arthur McClatchie of Huntingdon, a brother and a sister-in-law, Mr. Thomas and Miss Nell Stewart of Hemmingford, besides several nieces and nephews. She resided in Newport for the past 50 years. To this union were born 10 children, eight survive, also a brother, Charles Wright and a sister, Delia Morse, and by 15 grandchildren. Funeral services held March 29 with the Rev. J. W. Weiting officiating. Burial at North Newport NH.

04-18-1939 Sarah Ellen (Nellie) Goodhue, died at the residence of the Rev. A. F. Pollock, 3455 King Edward Avenue, Montreal Québec, age 75 years. She was one of Canada's outstanding nurses. She retired in 1932, and made her home with her niece, Mrs. F. Pollock and the Rev. Mr. Pollock in Ormstown Québec. She was the youngest of a family of seven. Her only sister, Mrs. W. H. Stockwell of Stanstead Québec, died two years ago. A daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Ward Goodhue, she was born in Danville Québec. Funeral services were held in the United Church in Danville, conducted by the Rev. W. E. Long, assisted by the Rev. A. F. Pollock. Interred in the family plot at Danville Cemetery.

04-12-1939 Charles Hurley McCarthy, died at his late residents, 30 Upper Bridge street, Skibbereen, County Cork, Ireland. Age 63 years. He was the only brother of John McCarthy, former J.P. of New Erin. He was son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles McCarthy and was one of eight children. His entire life was spent in the Cathedral Parish of Skibbereen. Deaths deprived him in 1916 of a loving wife and young son.

He was born in Montreal Aug. 06, 1872, and a graduate of McGill University and Wesleyan College. He is survived by his wife, (Bella Jane Dixon), of Montreal, three sons, H. L. Lennon of Montreal, Eric Lennon of Lennoxville, and Ayton Lennon of Québec City. A daughter, Gladys, of Montreal, two brothers, Andrew and Harry of Montreal, a niece, Mrs. Gordon Tarlton of Montreal, a nephew, Arthur Lennon of Montreal. (95 years 05 months and 09 days). He was born and brought up in the township of Elgin, living there throughout his life. It is claimed that in Elgin, no man knew the contents of the Bible better than the same Mr. Elder. He was a Free Mason, having joined the Chateauguay Lodge No. 36, in 1885. He was married on March 27, 1878, to Newton Rebecca Buckham, who died January 20, 1930, at the age of 85 years. To this couple three children were born, Mrs. W. F. McDonald and two sons, George P. Kennedy, died in Hemmingford Québec, after a short illness, age 63 years., he was born in Plattsburgh New York, on August 11, 1876, eldest son of the late George Kennedy, and his wife, Marion Carson. His early education was received at the Plattsburgh Academy, and in 1899 he entered McGill University, graduating with honors in 1902, as Dr. of veterinary science, there after started his practice in Hemmingford Québec. On August 11, 1904, he was united in marriage to Grace T. McLaren of Ormstown Québec. Of this union four sons were born, Roy of Massena New York, Ralph, Ted, and John were born, and a daughter, Verna, of Hemmingford, all of whom survive, as well as a brother, Robert Kennedy of Massena Springs New York, and two sisters, Mrs. Grace Wilson, also of Massena Springs New York, and Mrs. Herbert McKirryher of Rutland VT. Funeral services held from St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, service being conducted by the Rev. Jonathan M. Fletcher.

Mr. Dawson was born in Huntingdon in the year 1850, eldest son of the late William Dawson and his wife, Betty Johnston. He made his home in Rockburn for some time, and in the year 1873, married Eliza Vance. Of this marriage, seven children were born, three boys and four girls, all survive him. They are, William J. of Cogland, British Columbia, Allen H. and James A. of Huntingdon, four girls, Miss Edith Dawson, Mrs. Frank Oliver, (May) of Ormstown, Mrs. Ernest Mason, (Roberta), of the Gore, Hinchinbrooke, Mrs. J. Wallashy, (Louisa), of Saranac late New York, one brother, Edward H. Dawson of Ormstown, and three sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Fennell, and Mrs. Sarah Dewick of Ormstown, and Mrs.M.A. Flower of Vancouver British Columbia. He also has 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services for the late Mr. Dawson were held in St. John's Anglican Church on Monday, September 25, service conducted by the Rev. W. S. Hatcher. Interred in the Huntingdon Protestant Cemetery.

He was one of seven children, son of Mr. and Mrs. Marquis Walsh, born September 12, 1856 at Boyd settlement, Hinchinbrooke Québec, on the farm now owned by Fred McCaffery. He was employed by the New York Central Railway Company, with terminals at Yankton Nebraska and Sioux City IA, Mr. Walsh returned from the west to care for his aged parents and take over the management of the farm. His daughter, Gladys, died in 1926 and a devoted wife predeceased him only 14 months ago. He was united in marriage with Matilda C. Robinson, who survives, and to this union six sons were born, all of whom are living, William on the homestead, Lower Ormstown Concession, Robert Fulton and John B. of Great Falls MT, Allen K. of Ormstown, Reay and Robinson of Stanford, Montana, and James Neil of Great Falls MT. She was born on the fourth concession of Charlottenburgh, daughter of William McGregor and Christy Ferguson, both parents being descendants of united empire loyalist settlers. After her marriage to D.A. McRae, of Apple Hill, they lived in Vancouver for a number of years, then returning to Glengarry to take up farming on the McRae Homestead. predeceased by her husband and a daughter, Marion, and a son, Farquhar. She is survived by two daughters and three sons, Mrs. E. L. Harris of Syracuse New York, Mrs. Clouston, wife of Dr. Howard Clouston of Huntingdon, Archibald J. McRae of New York City, Gordon M. He was born in Russell ON, on December 14, 1861, and came to Dundee at the age of 21. He is survived by his widow, one son Hugh at home, one brother, Dr. Hugh D. Grant of Bath ME, three sisters, Mrs. Johnna Kirschner of Ottawa, and Misses Matilda and Ellen Grant of Montreal. He is survived by his wife and four sons, Charles, Thomas, Harold, Morris and one daughter, Dorothy, of Saranac Lake New York, a sister, Mrs. Oliver Robidoux of St. Agnes, and a brother, John of Los Angeles CA. Funeral service was held in St. Joseph's Church in Huntingdon Québec, service conducted by the Rev. William Murphy, formerly of India, assisted by Father Pigeon.

12-30-1939 Jane Rankin, beloved wife of Keith Oliver, died suddenly at Concorde New Hampshire, age 37 years. She was the sixth daughter of the family of eight girls and one son, born to the late Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Rankin of New Erin Québec. The entire family were devoted to one another and to St. John's Episcopal Church in Huntingdon. Janie attended the Huntingdon high school. Learning to train as a nurse in Concorde New Hampshire, in the Margaret Pillsbury Hospital, and was united in marriage to Mr. Keith Oliver. Funeral services were held in Concorde, conducted by her minister, the Rev. Bernhard Loregren, the remains where brought to Huntingdon and the funeral service was held from St. John's church. The funeral service was conducted by the Rev. W. S. Hatcher, who was assisted by the Rev. J. B. McLean, D. D. of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, the deceased is survived by her husband, Mr. Keith Oliver, her brother, Bert of New Erin and 6 sister, Mrs. Ward McLean of Godmanchester, Mrs. Ross King, (Elsie) of Bigger Saskatchewan, Mrs. Roy Cooper, (Evelyn), of Montreal, Mrs. J. W. Smith, (Mildred) of Buffalo New York, Mrs. James English, (Greta), of Great Falls MT, Miss Lillian Rankin of Montreal and a great number of other relatives and friends. The second daughter, Ruby died in childhood.

(Not dated) Mrs. Harry Stephenson, died at Bladworth, Saskatchewan, age 79 years. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Dixon, she was born at St Louis de Gonzaque Québec, in 1860. It was here she met her husband, they were married in 1885. First living in Ormstown for 19 years. Their next home was in Saskatchewan, homesteading west of town in 1904. In 1929 they retired and moved to Bladworth. On October 28th, last, they celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary. She leaves to mourn, her husband and one son, Arthur of Mistatim Saskatchewan, one daughter, Mrs. L.G. Palmar, of Bloodworth, 18 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A daughter predeceased her in 1924. Funeral services from the United Church, with Rev. W. McWhinney in charge.

12-29-1939 Daniel McIntosh Walker, died at Huntingdon Québec, age 84 years. He was twice married, first wife, Mary White, died a few years after their marriage, after being a widow for a few years he married Miss Kathleen Neely, of Anderson's Corners, Hinchinbrooke Québec. From this union one son was born, Robert, Mrs. Walker and Robert survives, he is also survived by two sisters, Miss Annie Walker of Athelstan, and Mrs. Hughes of North Vancouver British Columbia

12-30-1939 Margaret Eva Stephen, wife of the Rev. Harry Walker, minister of the United Church of Canada, died at her late residents, Gloucester Avenue, Lancaster England. Interred in Lancaster England on January 3rd, 1940.

Dr. Malcolm Campbell, pastor of the first Presbyterian Church. Interred in the Mount Royal Cemetery.

(Not dated) Mr. Levi Robson of Valleyfield Québec, died in Valleyfield Québec. He was married to Mary McCracken, eldest daughter of Mrs. and the late Mr. George McCracken. He was born in Huntingdon Québec, son of the late Edward Robson and his wife, the late Carolyn Kelly. The early part of his life was spent in Huntingdon, working as a carpenter for Frank Henderson in the mill, now owned by the city gas company. He married in July 8, 1903 to Mary Alma McCracken, eldest daughter of the late George McCracken and Bella Sadler. Later moving to Valleyfield, then to Toronto, then Hamilton, then Montreal, and back to Valleyfield, he leaves to mourn, his wife, one son Addison, his daughter-in-law, and two granddaughters, three sisters, Ida, Mrs. Fred Ross, of Powerscourt Québec, Effie, Mrs. Donald Houghton of Huntingdon, Mary, Mrs. Fred Wilson, in the West, one sister, Amanda, Mrs. Dr. Walker of Huntingdon, and one brother, William of Toronto, predeceased him some years ago. Funeral service held from the residents of his son, Addison, 7 Ste Venson Street, service conducted by his pastor, Rev. Mr. Williams, of the United Church, assisted by the Rev. Mr. Castleman. Interred in the Bellerive Cemetery.
