12-20-1940 Elizabeth Bennett of Hemmingford Québec, widow of the late Fred Woodward, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Lewis McGregor of Point St. Charles Québec, age 75 years. She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Lewis McGregor, a grandson, Willie McGregor, of Point St. Charles, a sister, Mrs. Walter McNaughton of Hemmingford, and two brothers, Mr. William Bennett of Hemmingford and Mr. Fred Pelletier of Barrington. Her husband predeceased her nine years ago. Following a short service at her home on Sunday afternoon, by the Rev. Mr. Barnes of Centenary United Church, Mrs. Woodward was brought to Hemmingford to St. Andrew's United Church, service their by the Rev. C. C. Dean.

12-16-1940 Burton J. Perry, died in his home and Valleyfield Québec, after a brief illness. Age 65 years. He was a native of Herkimer, USA, son of George and Catherine Perry. He was united in marriage on November 26, 1913, to Miss Mayme Gallegly, moving in 1915 to Utica NY, and in 1924 to Valleyfield Québec. He leaves his wife, and three daughters, Anna, Edna and Betty Perry, two sons, George and Burton J. Jr., all of Valleyfield, a sister, Miss Mary Perry, of Pine Crest, and two brothers, Thomas G., and Harry of Utica.

Aird, general manager of the Montreal Cotton Ltd. at Valleyfield Québec, a daughter, Mrs. W. J. T. Adamson, and Jessie of Montreal, six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

01-08-1941 Bernard H. Lapine, died at Ogdensburg NY, age 74 years. He was born near Chateauguay, in June 25, 1876, son of Bernard and Margaret Daffin Lapine.. He was married to Miss Margaret A Massam, of Kensington Québec, the couple having resided in Ogdensburg about 30 years. Surviving besides his wife are two daughters, Mrs. David McCaul of Malone New York, Miss Margaret B. Lapine of Ogdensburg, two sons, Robert and John H. Lapine, both of Ogdensburg, and a sister, Mrs. Thomas Dillon of Hartford CT. He was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral Parish, also affiliated with the holy names society of that Church.

01-06-1941 Adelaide Hall, beloved wife of Charles McGilton, died at Eaton Québec, age 69 years. She was the youngest daughter of the late Leonard Hall and his wife, Sara Kennedy, she was born on July 31, 1871 at Covey Hill Québec, where she lived until her marriage to Charles McGilton in 1896. She leaves to mourn, besides her husband, three children, a son, Leonard of Stanstead, Sara, Mrs. Newell Cairns of Lennoxville, Marjorie, Mrs. Donald Orr of Hemmingford, one daughter-in-law, two son in laws and five grandchildren.

01-15-1941 John Reginald Dickenson, beloved husband of Ethel Shaw Maybury, died at his late residents, Abbotsford Avenue, Chateauguay Basin Québec, age 59 years 11 months. He was a native of Wighan, England, being born there in 1881, and came to Montreal in 1904. In 1907 he married Ethel Shaw Maybury. Surviving him are his widow, a daughter, Mrs. T. R. Wearing, two grandchildren of Pamour Ontario, a son, Hayden of Montreal, and a brother, Arthur of Granby Québec. He was also a brother-in-law to Mr. and Mrs. W.E. Pilborough and Mr. William Cox of Westmount and Chateauguay Heights. Funeral service was conducted by the Rev. McKinlay Rose, burial in Mount Royal Cemetery.

01-20-1941 L. Napoleon Dupuis, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. S. D. Popeck, Chateauguay Street, Huntingdon Québec, in his 81st year. He was born at St Anicet in 1860, moving to Huntingdon shortly after his marriage to Mrs. Dupuis, the former Lomyra Fuller, who predeceased him two years ago. They were married in St Anicet on January 09, 1882, and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on January 09, 1937. He leaves to mourn, Mrs. Mabel Wattie of Athelstan, Wilfred, of Montreal, Mrs. S. D.Popeck of Huntingdon, Mrs. James Lorden, of St. John's Québec, Herman A Dupuis of Valleyfield, all children of the deceased, one daughter, Rhoda, died 28 years ago, many grandchildren and a few great-grandchildren. Funeral service on Thursday morning at St. Joseph's Church in Huntingdon Québec.

01-15-1941 Ella Perry, dearly beloved wife of William M. Horne, died at the Barrie Memorial Hospital in Ormstown Québec. She was the fourth daughter of the late John Perry and his wife, Alice Ball, both native's of Northern Ireland. She is survived by her husband, two brothers, William and Edward, and one sister, Mrs. S. M. Simpson. She was predeceased by two brothers and three sisters. Funeral service was held Friday afternoon at Knox Church, Robson Québec, service conducted by her pastor, Mr. J. Gordon Troyer, assisted by the Rev. Mr. Dean, burial in the Cemetery there.

01-17-1941 William Johnston Sr., died at Burke to New York, age 74 years. Mr. Johnson was born in White Haven, Cumberland County, England, January 13, 1867, son of William Johnson and Agnes Burkett. He was married to Lena Bova of Burke New York, on May 01, 1895, at Trout River, by the Rev. A Saurell. He is survived by his wife, and two sons, William of Burke New York, and Sidney of Malone New York, one sister, Mrs. Elmer Bessette of Boston MA, one brother, James of Dallas TX, five grandchildren and two nephews. Funeral services were held at St. George's Church in Burke New York, service conducted by the Rev. Ross A Garnsey. Burial in Constable New York.

(Not dated) Mrs. Vataline Quenneville Laframboise, widow of Michel Laframboise, formerly as St Anicet Québec, died at the home of her daughter in Springfield MA, age 89 years. She was born in St.Anicet Québec, 89 years ago, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Quenneville. She was married to Mr. Laframboise at an early age and had since resided in Springfield. Her husband passed away 26 years ago. She was the mother of a large family. Surviving besides her children are two sisters, Mrs. Frank Lattrell of Fort Covington, Mrs. S. DuBois of Port Louis Québec, one brother, Mr. A.E. Quenneville of St Anicet. Funeral services held in Springfield and burial was made there.

01-13-1941 Robert Stanley Kay, husband of the late Matilda Carr, died at Valleyfield Québec, in his 88th year.

01-16-1941 Francis Robinson of Ormstown Québec, died at the Barrie Memorial Hospital in Ormstown, age 87 years. Francis was born near St. Remi, on February 14, 1854, the youngest of nine children born to William Robinson and his wife, Maria Struthers. He was the last member of the family. Following his marriage on January 22, 1889, to Elizabeth James Stacey, he and Mrs. Robinson lived for several years at Essex Junction VT. In 1904 they came to Ormstown Québec. He leaves a son, Thomas F. Robinson of Chicopee MA, and a daughter, Mrs. C. A. Dan Hamm, (Clarissa), of West Springfield MA, two grandsons, Trevor and Peter Robinson, and a granddaughter, Ruth Dan Hamm. Funeral service was conducted by the Rev. W. T. Payne, at St. James Anglican Church in Ormstown Québec. Burial took place at Beechridge Cemetery.

01-16-1941 William John Smail, died at Norton Creek Québec, age 68 years. he was the eldest son of the late William Smail, and his wife, Martha Dunbar of St. Remi Québec, a former wife, Ruby Forder, predeceased him in May, 1939. He leaves to mourn, three sisters, Lizzie, Mrs. H. Struthers of Ormstown, Annie, Mrs. C.C. Forbes of Milton VT, Lillie, Mrs. M. D. Struthers, of Norton Creek, three brothers, Anthony of St. Remi, James and George Smail of Williston VT, besides a number of nieces and nephews. Service was conducted by the Rev. Mr. Day of Russeltown, burial took place at Beachridge Church.

Forty-seven years ago he married Phoebe Robinson of Westville NY, at St. Francis Church in Constable. Surviving besides his wife, one daughter, Mrs. Peter Edicus, of Syracuse NY, four sons, Walter and Alexander of Westville, Norman of Bombay, and Raymond of Helena, several grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Funeral services held at St. Patrick's Church and Helena, service conducted by the Rev. Walter Funcke. Burial in the Catholic Cemetery in Constable NY.

01-09-1941 Israel Latreille, died at St Anicet Québec, age 84 years. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Latreille, his wife was the former Olive Quesnel of St.Anicet. Surviving are eight children, one sister, Mrs. M. Lalonde of Montreal, and two brothers, Stephen of Montreal, and Frank of Fort Covington New York. Funeral services were held at St Anicet Church, burial in the family plot there.

She was born August 26, 1857, in St. Antoine Québec, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jacobs Supernault. Sixty years ago next July 02, she married Joseph Brugeon. Besides her age husband, she is survived by one son, Ernest of Onchiota, and one daughter, Mrs. Eva White, of Malone, one sister, Mrs. Denis Gokey of St. Regis Falls. Funeral from St. John Bosco Church, burial in Notre Dame Cemetery.

01-28-1941 Edith Mary Levers, wife of the late James C. Coulter, died at the Gore, Hinchinbrooke Québec, age 64 years. She was the eldest daughter of Charles Levers and his wife, Ruth Kelly. She was born in Athelstan Québec, on June 02, 1876. She was married to James C. Coulter on June 24, 1896. Her husband predeceased her four years ago, also her daughter, Hazel, 22 years ago. She leaves to mourn, one daughter, Stella, a sister, Mrs. Ed Ewart of Huntingdon and two brothers, Victor Levers of Winnipeg MB, and Ernest Levers of Henning Minnesota. Funeral service was at St. Paul's Anglican Church in Herdman Québec, service conducted by the Rev. W. S. Hatcher of Huntingdon.

01-23-1941 Ethel Cogland, wife of the late William A Davidson, and daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Cogland of Herdmans Québec, died at Calgary AB. Mrs. Davidson met with a fatal accident in Calgary AB, on Thursday afternoon and passed away within a few hours after the accident. She went to western Canada in 1907 and taught school at Blairmore AB, and Fernie B. C. She was married to William Davidson in 1915, he was a mining engineer, they made their home in Rosedale and Drumheller AB. Her husband was accidentally killed while inspecting a coal mine at Rosedale in 1924. Mrs. Davidson has made her home in Calgary for the past 15 years. She leaves to mourn, her daughter, Mrs. A. W. Howard of Montreal Québec, as well as five sisters and three brothers. Funeral service held in Calgary on Monday afternoon.

02-04-1941 Leslie R. Goodfellow,of 618 S. Fifth Ave, Maywood Illinois, son of James H. Goodfellow of Williamstown Ontario, age 47 years. He died at the Illinois Research Hospital after an illness of two months. Surviving are his wife, the former Vivienne Thomson of Fort Francis, whom he married in November, 1939, one daughter, Joyce, whose mother, the former Winifred Pieper, of Fort William, passed away on January 02, 1930, his father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. James H. Goodfellow of Williamstown Ontario, formerly of Huntingdon, one brother, George, and sister, Mrs. Donald Cumming of Lancaster Ontario, and sister, Mrs. Arthur Lunan of Montreal, and Mrs. Clifford Martel of Cornwall Ontario. Funeral services were under the auspices of the Melrose Park Lodge, No. 1165, A.F. and A.M., and the order of railway conductors, service conducted by the Rev. R. A. Harris, burial made in Glenn Oak Cemetery.

01-29-1941 Mrs. Minnie Lobdell, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth Jarvis, in Burke New York, age 78 years. She was born in Hinchinbrooke Québec, August 28, 1863, daughter of William and Mary Wilson. She married Arnold Lobdell on April 11, 1890, and has since resided in Burke. Her husband died 11 years ago in March. Surviving are one son, Lorraine, one daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth Jarvis, two grandsons, Elwin and Arlington Lobdell, and one sister, Mrs. Lorenzo McClatchie of Athelstan Québec. Funeral services were held at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Eugene Jarvis, to the Presbyterian Church, service conducted by the Rev. Robert R. Carothers, pastor of the Congregational Church in Malone New York officiated.

02-01-1941 James MacLean, beloved husband of Edna E. Chambers, died at St. Catherine's General Hospital, burial at Ormstown Québec.

01-31-1941 Miss. Margaret P. Morison, formerly of Trout River, and sister of Mrs. Peter Paul, died at Brockton Massachusetts, age 88 years. She was born a Trout River, November 30, 1853, she was the youngest daughter of the late William G. and Janet Gray Morison, Pioneer settlers. Miss Morison went to the states after her home was destroyed by fire, the site on which the Catholic school stands today. She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Agnes Hall of Huntingdon, and Mrs. Mary Clarkson of Brockton, 10 nieces and nine nephews. The remains will be taken to Huntingdon Cemetery in the spring and buried in the family plot.

01-31-1941 Minnie Connolly Cassidy, beloved wife of Charles R. Todd, of Huntingdon Québec, died at the Montreal General Hospital, in her 59th year. Formerly of Pointe aux Trembles, coming to Huntingdon 35 years ago. She leaves to mourn, her husband, and three sons, Irwin and Willie at home on the farms, Arthur of Montreal, one daughter, Eva, Mrs. James Bullock of Montreal, also three sisters, Miss Margaret Cassidy, and Mrs. H. Thompson, of Vancouver, Mrs. Art Cassidy of Montreal, two brothers, George of Dewittville and Francis of Pointe aux Trembles, also seven grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. J. B. McLean at her home on Sunday at 2 p.m. Burial in the Huntingdon Cemetery.

01-28-1941 Etienne Vaillancourt, beloved husband of Albina Charl, died at his home at Covey Hill Québec, age 61 years. He was born at St. Antoine Abbe, in 1880, and was one of 15 children of the late Mr. and Mrs. Peter Vaillancourt. He was married in 1907 to Albina Charlrand. He is survived by his widow, seven sons, Albert of Canastota New York, Ernest of Dundee, Emile of Forbes Ontario, Leo, with the Victoria Rifles Regiment in Newfoundland, Romeo of Montreal, Paul and Omer at home, three daughters, Mrs. Leonard Houle, and Mrs. Leo Hebert of Hemmingford, Miss Lara at home. Also surviving are three brothers, Joseph, twin brother of the deceased, and Robert, both of Churubusco New York, Nelson of Chateauguay New York, and two sisters, Mrs. Fred Barne and Mrs. J. Vaillancourt of Orchard Massachusetts. Besides also nine grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral to place at Hemmingford in the Roman Catholic Church, burial will be made later at St Antoine Abbe Québec.

He was born at Howick Québec, on April 10, 1874, son of James Gordon and his wife, Isobel Robertson. In 1899 Mr. Gordon was married to Miss. Christina Mills of Montreal. He leaves to mourn, his wife, four sons, James, John, Cecil and Malben, all married and living near Washington, five daughters, Ruth, Mrs. Albert Feidler, Mabel, Mrs. William Woodside, both of Pittsburgh, Margaret, Elizabeth and Eleanor at home, also seven grandchildren, also survived by three sisters, Mrs. George Muir of Howick Québec, Mrs. John Murphy, and Mrs. John McEwen of Montreal, three brothers, Robert and Ben, of Saskatchewan, and George of St. Lambert Québec.

02-01-1941 Wilmer Douglas Jackson, infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Jackson, died at Cabri Saskatchewan, age 02 months.

02-04-1941 John A Kirkland, died at Fairbury Nebraska, age 70 years. He was a prominent architect and builder, well known in Huntingdon. The deceased was born in Franklin Center, he leaves two brothers, Fred E. Kirkland of Springfield Massachusetts, and David H. Kirkland of Baltimore MD, and a nephew, Edgar Kirkland of Franklin Center. He was a half brother of the late Joseph Kyle Orr, who was imminent grand commander of the Nights Templar of America. The funeral was held in Fairbury Nebraska.

02-07-1941 Mrs. Josephine Myer, died at Huntingdon Québec, age 76 years. The deceased was born in Finch, Ontario, in 1863, later moving to St. Agnes Québec. He was born in Lindsay Ontario on October 02,1876. Besides Joe Primeau, he is survived by a second nephew, Rev. Cecil Primeau, S. J., missionary among the Ojibway Indians in northern Ontario. The nieces are, Mrs. M. J. McCracken of Buffalo New York, Mrs. M. Senegal and Miss R. Primeau of Rochester New York, Michael Primeau of St.Anicet, is an uncle of the deceased and Mr. Alford Primeau a second cousin. She was the youngest of the late Joseph Latham and his wife, Sarah Bennett. In April of 1900, she was married to Robert Orr, also of Hemmingford, and shortly after their marriage went to Winnipeg MB where she has since resided. Besides her husband, she is survived by two older sisters, Mrs. James McCance, and Mrs. William McNaughton, both of Hemmingford. Buried at Winnipeg MB, beside the remains of those of three children who died in their infancy.

Her first husband was Alexander McDonald of Monkton ON, several years after his death she married Hugh McGill who died six years ago. Surviving are two sons, Archie and Lawrence McDonald of Chateauguay, two sisters, Mrs. Thomas Jones of Malone a New York, and Mrs. Catherine English of Chateauguay, several nieces and nephews and six grandchildren. A. brother, Lawrence Mahoney, of Chateauguay, died only a few months ago. Funeral services were held from St. Patrick's Church in Chateauguay on Saturday morning.

Mr. Picard is survived by his widow, four daughters, Mrs. Frank Lashua, of Jonesville VT, Mrs. Pearl Parizo, of Essex Junction, Mrs. Julia Frier of Havelock Québec, Mrs. Beatrice Joubert, of Glenn Falls, New York, four sons, John, of South Hero, Alexander, of North Williston, Arthur, of South Lincoln, and Wilfred, of Essex Junction, also by 27 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. The deceased was born in Chateauguay County Québec, on March 16, 1848. He was a blacksmith at Franklin Québec, Covey Hill corners, and other places in the district. On February 05, Mr. and Mrs. Picard had been married 64 years. The latter, who is 83 years of age, and still quite active. The funeral services were held on Tuesday afternoon, service conducted by Rev. Walter Blackmer. Burial was in the family lot at Riverview Cemetery.

His death was accidental, Cause being, he was struck by an engine in the CNR switching yards. He was born in England, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Rosevear. 03-15-1941 Emma A. Winter, wife of the late George T. Sadler, died at Ormstown Québec. She was eldest daughter of the late John E. Winter and his wife, Johanna Murray. She was born in Ormstown, and resided their until the time of her marriage in 1886, to George L. Sadler, when she went to the farm at Tatehurst, where she spent the best part of her life, retiring from the farm life in 1925 and returning to Ormstown Village to spend the remaining years. Mr. Sadler predeceased her on March 31, 1929. She was a member of the former Methodist Church. Surviving are one son, Warren, and two daughters, Ida, Mrs. Percy Osmond, Clara, Mrs. Stewart Osmond, and one granddaughter, Elaine Osmond survives. Funeral was held in St. Paul's United Church.

03-20-1941 Donald A. McEwen, second son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Archibald McEwen of St Louis de Gonzaque Québec, died at Ormstown Québec, age 74 years. he was born at St Louis de Gonzaque Québec, February 26, 1867. After finishing school he took up farming on the homestead. The farm taken out by his late grandfather, Archibald McEwen, in the year 1829. In June 1930, being 101 years later, Donald sold the farm and move to Ormstown. He was married in February 1906, to Elizabeth M. McCaig, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Donald McCaig, who predeceased him 34 years ago. On February 10, 1933, another loss in the death of his only daughter, E. Donalda, at the age of 26 years. He is survived by two sisters, Mrs. James Barrington of Ormstown Québec, Mrs. Henry M. Campbell Ellston MI, also nieces and nephews. Funeral was held at the Ormstown Presbyterian Church, service conducted by the Rev. E. J. White, burial in the Georgetown Cemetery.

He was born in Kensington, son of William Murdoch and Annie Murphy, educated in local schools. He went to the United States about 20 years ago and was married to Miss Minnie Coughlin, of Trout River. He is survived by his wife, and two daughters, Jane and Barbara, all of Trout River, two sisters, Mrs. William Murray and Miss Lillian Murdoch, of Kensington, one brother, Stanley at Syracuse New York, also nieces and nephew.

03-18-1941 Charles Ewart Tait, of St Louis de Gonzaque Québec, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Tait, died at the Barrie Memorial Hospital in Ormstown Québec, age, in his 82nd year. He was the last surviving member of the family of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Tait, of whom there were three sisters and five brothers. He was born at St Louis de Gonzaque Québec, in 1859, and lived his entire life there. His wife, Agnes Sawyer, predeceased him 22 years ago. Graves, died at McCord Saskatchewan, age 75 years. her maiden name was Kate Edwards, she was born at Maritana, Québec, on March 11, 1866, daughter of the late William Edwards, P.T.S.. She graduated from Huntingdon Academy in May, 1884. on October 14, 1885, she was united in marriage to Thomas E. Graves, and resided at Maritana Québec until August 1914, when she and the family joined Mr. Graves, who had taken up land in 1909 at McCord Saskatchewan, where she has resided until the time of her death. Mr. and Mrs. Graves celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary on October 14, 1940. She was a member of the United Church of Canada. She is survived by her husband, and six daughters, two sons, 30 grandchildren, and one great-grandson. A short funeral service was held at the home, followed by a service at the United Church, in McCord Saskatchewan, service conducted by the Rev. Mr. McCready, pastor. Burial in the United Church Cemetery in McCord Saskatchewan.

He was born in St.Anicet Québec, October 28, 1879, son of the late John MacNicol and his wife, Christy Helps. His entire life was spent at the family homestead. He was married to Eleanor Mary Ferguson of St.Anicet, on October 29, 1906, who still survives, four children were born to this union. The deceased leaves to mourn, besides his widow, three sons, Earl and Roy at home, and Cecil of Renfrew ON, one daughter, Ruth, Mrs. Harry MacNaughton, one brother, Peter of Edmonton AB, one sister, Isabella, Mrs. W. F. Stark, of Kensington, also several nieces and nephews and one grandchild. Funeral services were held from his late residence, to the United Church in Dundee Québec, service conducted by the Rev. She was a faithful member of St. Patrick's Church. Funeral services were held at St. Patrick's Church, and burial placed in St. Patrick's Cemetery beside her husband.

05-05-1941 Patrick Meehan, formerly of Franklin Center Québec, died at Blooming Prairie Minnesota, age 85 years. He was one of the oldest citizens of the community. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Meehan and was born in Franklin Center Québec, on April 11, 1856. At the age of 20 he went to Iowa, where he became interested in caring for horses, later going to Clermont Minnesota. In 1878, 63 years ago, Mr. Meehan moved to Blooming Prairie, he was married to Miss Sara Allman after going to Minnesota. Mrs. Meehan passed away in 1914. He remarried in 1919, his second wife was Rose Skalisky. Surviving are his wife, and five children by his first marriage. Harold, Howard, and Charles, all of St. Paul Minnesota, Mabel, Mrs. George Kenevan, of Albert, Lea, Mrs. John Colbert of Blooming Prairie. A son, George, died in 1933, and a daughter, Mrs. Joe Ryan, died in 1920. 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren also survive. He was the last member of a family of 10 children, his last brother, Felix, died at the family homestead in Franklin Center Québec, in 1937.

(Not dated) Mrs. Mary Hughes Sherry, widow of Patrick Sherry, a native of Trout River, died at the home of her son, John, in Schenectady NY, where she has resided for the past 40 years. She was a sister of the late Henry Hughes of Trout River. Mrs Sherry would have been one hundred years old on her next birthday. Surviving are two sons, John and Michael, both of Schenectady, four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. The body arrived in Constable NY, to St. Bridges's Church, in Trout River, service conducted by the Rev. J. P. Heslin. Burial was in Trout River.

07-19-1941 William McNaughton, of Carlstadt New York, youngest son of the late Mr. and Mrs. William McNaughton of Ormstown Québec, died at the Hackensack Hospital, age 83 years and 04 months. He was born at Ormstown Québec, son of the late William McNaughton, and the late Agnes MacDougal. The late Mr. McNaughton moved to New Jersey about 60 years ago, there he joined his brothers, who had moved there a number of years previous and who were engaged in the carpentry business. His late brothers Malcolm and John, predeceased him in February 1941, and September 1940 respectively. The former being 92 years, while the latter was 88 years old. William was the youngest member of the family and leaves to mourn his wife, who lives in Carstack New Jersey.

07-17-1941 Dr. E. Harrison Ormsby, died at Malone New York Hospital, age 51 years. He was a graduate of Albany medical College, practice medicine in Amsterdam since 1915. Surviving are his wife and a daughter, Miss Margaret Ormsby. Dr. Ormsby's first wife was the late Muriel Blackwood of Huntingdon.

07-16-1941 John Powers, died at Covington New York, age 89 years. He was born on the homestead farm, a short distance from where he died, born on June 15, 1852, a son of John and Mary (Fitzpatrick) Powers, and his entire life time was passed in that section where he followed the occupation of farming. On May the second, 1882, he was united in marriage to Miss Catherine McMullen, of Hinchinbrooke Québec, who died on September 15, 1922. Surviving are two sons, William P. of Mechanicsville, and Edwin J., who resides at home. One daughter, Veronica, wife of John Brady, of Clinton, died in 1911. Funeral services were held at St. Philomenas Church at Churubusco.

07-03-1941 James Kinley Massey Sr, died at his late residents, he was the son of the late James Massey and of his wife, the late Elizabeth McGinnis, who were formerly natives of County Down, Ireland. He was born in Huntingdon Québec, there were also four daughters in this family, Elizabeth, Mrs. John Elliott, Margaret, Mrs. William Farquhar, Henrietta, Mrs. James Irwin, May, Mrs. D. A. McMillan, of Glendale ON, who is the only surviving member of the family. He was united in marriage to Annie May Elliott in 1896. They moved to Holyoke Massachusetts, returning to Canada in 1898 and bought a farm on which they lived through the remainder of their life. To this union two children were born, one daughter, Millicent Jamine, who predeceased her father twenty years ago, and one son James, on the farm. Funeral service was held in Rennie's United Church, service conducted by his pastor, Rev. T. F. Duncan. Burial in the Huntingdon Cemetery.

07-13-1941 Thomas E. Graves, died at his farm home, and age 77 years. He was born at Champlain New York, on September 16, 1863, son of the late William Graves. He was married at Maritana, to Kate Edwards on October 14, 1885, who predeceased him in May of this year, after more than 55 years of married life. Mr. Graves was the owner of an iron foundry at Maritana Québec, which he operated for over 25 years. He is survived by six daughters, and two sons, 30 grandchildren and one great-grandson. Funeral service was held at his home, followed by a service at the United Church, in McCord. Service conducted by Mr. McCready, Pastor, assisted by the Rev. Mr. Bannerman, also assisted by the Rev. La Fleche, of Saskatchewan. Burial was in the McCord Saskatchewan Cemetery.

(Not dated) Thomas Savard, a resident of Tupper Lake New York, for more than half a century, died on Wednesday, at his home, 12 Cedar Street, Faust. He was born at Checoutimi Québec, January 19, 1865, son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Savard, he went to the United States 55 years ago. He is survived by four children, one daughter, Mrs. G. H. (Amanda) St. Pierre of Montreal, three sons, George and Ernest J. Savard, of Faust, and Edgar Savard of Niagara Falls, two sisters, Mrs. William Forkey and Mrs. Joseph Payment, both of Faust. Funeral services were held Friday morning at Faust Holy Named Church, with the Rev. Father Finnegan, pastor of officiating. Burial was in the family plot at Holy Name Cemetery, Tupper Lake New York.

She was born and brought up in Hemmingford, and attended school their and later McDonald College where she became a teacher. Later she married Harold Hastings. They built a summer hotel and a number of cottages at Long Point Beach, near Port Rowan, ON. She leaves to mourn, her husband, her age Father, Mr. William Barr, one sister, Mrs. Almer Robinson of Lacolle Québec, and one brother, Percy of Hamilton ON. Funeral service was held at Port Rowan ON. Burial was in the Port Rowan Cemetery.

Dr. George Whillans,D.D., died at her late residence, 1444 Chomedy Street, Montreal Québec, age 78 years.She was the daughter of the late Rev. Kenneth McKenzie and Margaret McKenzie of Baddeck,Cape Breton. Her husband died in 1939, having retired from the ministry in 1932, and taken up his residence in Montreal. Surviving are one son, Gerald of Ottawa ON, four daughters, Miss Margaret at home, Mrs. F. A. Warner of Halifax NS, Mrs. Wilford Watson of Howick, Québec, and Miss Eileen at home, seven grandchildren and one brother, Alexander McKenzie of Halifax NS. Funeral service was held on Tuesday afternoon at the chapel of Joseph C. Wray and Brothers Funeral Home on Mountains Street in Montreal. The body was taken to Georgetown, where a service was held at the Presbyterian Church, followed by burial there.

Mr. Smith was born in Philadelphia and came to Montreal 17 years ago for the Victor Company. She is also survived by her husband, a sister, Mrs. Robert McRae of Mission City, British Columbia, one brother, Mr. Huntley Morrison, of South Elgin IL, her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Sadie Boyd of Huntingdon, and her grandchildren, Julius, Peter, and Lynda. 08-13-1941 William C. Barr, formerly of Hemmingford Québec, died at his home in Hamilton ON, in his 88 year. Mr. Barr was born and brought up on a farm in Hemmingford, he was the last surviving one of a family of five children, born to William Barr and his wife, Mary Graham. He was connected with the Canadian militia, being Capt. in the 6th Duke of Connaught Royal Canadian Hussars. He married Hannah Kenny and to this union were born four children, Mamie, who died in infancy, Ella, Mrs. Hastings, with whom he made his home since Mrs. Barr's death, Blanche, Mrs. Elmer Robinson of Lacolle Québec, and Percy, who with his wife and daughter resided with Mr. Barr and Mr. and Mrs. Hastings in Hamilton. He was the oldest member of Knox United Church. His body was brought to the home of his nephew, Mr. Emmett Cleland on Thursday night. Funeral service held on Friday afternoon in Knox Church, service conducted by the Rev. Mr.Burt. Burial took place in the Knox Cemetery beside his wife who passed away five years ago.

Both parents passing away in her early childhood. She was brought up by relatives in this county, the well-known Watt family of the River Outarde. She was educated at Huntingdon and later went to Springfield MA where she continued for 30 years in business. On retiring from business 11 years ago, she made her home in Huntingdon. Nine years ago she was married to Mr. John A. Brown. She is survived by her only sister, Mrs. Rosebrugh, late of Winnipeg MB, who for the last year and more has been with her. There is also a niece, Mrs. Gaston Riou, of Paris France, better known to a former generation as Aileen Moir, and as daughter of Mrs. Rosebrugh. Funeral was held in St. Andrews Church in Huntingdon Québec, service conducted by the Rev J. B. McLean, D. D..

07-26-1941 Mrs. Jane Hayes, wife of Bayard Hayes, formerly of Aubrey Québec, died at Okotoks Alberta, age 70 years. the late Mrs. Hayes was born at Aubrey Québec, in 1870, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Lang, in 1895 she went west to Okotoks district where her sister and brother were already settled. The following year she was married to Mr. Hayes at the home of her brother on June 30. In 1913 they moved to Calgary where they lived for nine years. In 1922 they return to Okotoks where they have since resided. Besides her husband she is survived by a son Melville, and a daughter, Mrs. W. H. Cope, all of Okotoks. Two brothers, William Lang of Okotoks and Daniel of Howick Québec, and one sister, Mrs. A. Allen of Okotoks. Funeral service was held in Calgary United Church, service conducted by the Rev Charles Wilkinson. Burial took place in Burnsland Cemetery.

She was a daughter of the late Peter and Julia Quennelle. She married Mr. Lavine who was a native of South Bangor about 59 years ago. The Rev. The late Mr. Herdman was the son of the late Mr. Arthur Herdman and his wife, the late Mary Ann Henderson, and was born on the farm formerly owned by Mr. Adrian Varin, a quarter-mile east of Herdmans Corner. Mr. and Mrs. Herdman moved for a short while to Ottawa Ontario, returning to Herdman, where they remained till around 20 years ago, when they, with their family moved to Lowell MA. Mr. Herdman was united in marriage to Miss Jennie Johnston, to this union two sons were born, Clifford and Gordon, Mr. Herdman leaves to mourn, his widow, Mrs. William Herdman, two sons, and one daughter-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Herdman, and Mr. Gordon Herdman. One sister, Mrs. Jane Burns of Chateauguay New York, who is in very poor health.

08-29-1941 Mrs. J. A. E. McCabe, mother of Dr. W. G. McCabe of Valleyfield Québec, died at Windsor Mills Québec, age 88 years. in 1870 she was married to the late J.A.E. McCabe, who predeceased her 38 years ago. She was the mother of 17 children, and had 20 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Her father was the late Phil Maher. Many of her 17 children died in infancy or early childhood. She was predeceased in recent years by a son, Philip L. McCabe, of Windsor Mills, whose death occurred a few months ago and three daughters, Mrs. H. A.Meagher and Mrs. G. F. Libby, of Windsor Mills, and Mrs. G. Rousseau of Montreal. Children surviving are five sons, E. P. F. McCabe, advocate, and Dr. J. A. McCabe, of Windsor Mills, Dr. W. G. McCabe of Valleyfield, Dr. A. W. McCabe of Richmond, and Joseph E. McCabe of Windsor Mills, three daughters, Albertine, Mrs. J. F. Champaign, of Montreal, Leo, Mrs. C. E. Walsh of Windsor Mills, and Miss Kleis McCabe of Windsor Mills, and many other relatives.

09-03-1941 Herbert Walter Ovens, beloved husband of Lily Thompson, died suddenly at Tatehurst Québec, age 62 years. he was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. David Ovens of Lower Ormstown and had spent most of his life in this community. He was married January 13, 1909, with Lily Irene Thompson, of Dewittville Québec, to this union three daughters and two sons were born. Mr. Stewart was born at Hemmingford Québec, eldest son of the late James Richie Stewart and his wife, Mary Jane Perry. He was educated at Covey Hill and Westmount. He is mourned by his wife, the former Carlotta B. Williamson, who was his devoted nurse, one daughter, Priscilla Jane, and two sons, William Edward and Charles Monteith Jr., also one brother, J. She was a member of the missionary society of the Methodist Church. Surviving are three daughters, Edith and Clara Smith of Fort Covington and Mrs. Lorenzo Farquhar of Constable NY, two grandchildren, Robert Farquhar of Constable and Mrs. Frank Hope of Allen's Corners Québec, several nieces and nephews. (Not dated) Mrs. M. A. Condie, died in Regina Saskatchewan, a pioneer of the West, whose voluntary community service was recognized by the king. Mrs. Mary Agnes Conde,O.B.E., age 88 years, died in the Condie district of Saskatchewan. She was made a member of the order of the British Empire in June 1935, she was born in Howick Québec in 1853, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William MacArthur, she and her husband went to Saskatchewan shortly after the arrival of the railroad and became established on a farm little more than nine miles northwest of Regina about 1887. There they live through the hard years of the late 1880's and the early '90s. Mr. Condie, a transport driver in the rebellion of 1885, died a number of years ago. Mary Agnes is survived by a daughter, Mrs. George Newsome of the Condie district, and a brother in Chicago. The body was taken to Vancouver for cremation.

Three years ago, after his wife's death the year before, he went from Massena to Fort Covington to live with Mr. and Mrs. Charles Mayville. He was a large man weighing 240 to 260 pounds. Surviving are five sons and four daughters, Hormisdas Hart of Lowville, Fred of Massena, Medie of Potsdam, Alcide of Massena, Ernest of Massena, Mrs. Alice Pelkey of Massena, Miss Amelia Hart of Massena, Mrs. Evelyn Boulliere of Ogdensburg, Mrs. Charles Mayville of Fort Covington. He also leaves two brothers and two sisters, Herman Hart of Massena, Joseph Hart of Cornwall, Mrs. Henry Deschambault of Cornwall and Mrs. George Leblanc of Valleyfield. Funeral services were held from St. Mary's Church, conducted by the Rev. J. R. Lauzon. Burial was in St. Agnes Cemetery beside the grave of his wife who predeceased him four years ago.

10-19-1941 John McClintock, died at Ormstown Québec, in his 88th year. He was born December 28, 1854, on the farm West of the Village of Ormstown where he resided for many years. After selling the homestead to Dr Duncan McEachran, he moved to Ormstown where he spent the remainder of his life. He was the youngest of the family of seven, all except one of whom lived to be over 80 years of age, two being in their 90th year. Surviving are 16 nephews and nieces, 49 grand nephews and nieces, and 14 great grand nephews and nieces. He was related by marriage to the late Dr. James Bell, Charels R. Houser, and James Smith of Montreal and Westmont.

10-18-1941 William Alexander Nesbitt, eldest son of the late John Nesbitt of Kensington Québec, and beloved husband of Louisa Ross, died at Trout River Québec, age 77 years. he was united in marriage 46 years ago to Louisa Ross, of Pelefshire. They resided in New York State previous to coming to Canada where they purchased the Holbrook farm, now known as Little Holland. Besides his widow, Mr. Nesbitt leaves to mourn, two brothers, James and Percy of Kensington, Mrs. Marguerite Connors, of Smith Falls, and Mrs. John Windel, of Kensington. 11-24-1941 Thomas R. McArdle, died at Chateauguay, New York, formerly of Dewittville Québec, age 74 years. he was born in Dewittville Québec, son of the late Patrick and Ellen McArdle. He was married about 45 years ago to Miss Jennie Calnon, who survives him, also surviving, several nieces and nephews and cousin's.

11-26-1941 Mrs. James Meldrum, ( nee Elizabeth Logan), formerly of Howick Québec, died at her home in Montreal Québec, in her 87th year. She was formerly Elizabeth Logan, of Howick Québec, widow of the late James Meldrum of Meldrum brothers, Montreal. One son, J. A. Logan Meldrum of Montreal, and five daughters, survive, daughters are, Mrs. W. C. Wylie, Mrs. W. J. Templeton, Mrs. C. A. Duclos, Mrs. George A. Smith, all of Montreal, Mrs. E. A. Charlton of South Orange NJ, two grandchildren also survive.

12-06-1941 Mrs. Betsy White, a lifelong resident of Trout River, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John Casey, with whom she had resided for the past two years. She was born in Constable New York, daughter of Frank and Susan McMenamin Murray. In August 1886, she was married to John White at St. Francis Church in Constable New York. Mr. White died May 13, 1916. Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. George Lacrosse of Manchester CT, Mrs. Sherry Fleury of Constable New York, Mrs. Wallace Yando, of Malone New York, and Mrs. Frank Delosh and Mrs. John Casey of Trout River, one son, Raymond White, of Trout River, 15 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren. She was a member of the St Bridgets Church at Trout River. Funeral services held at St. Bridgets Church, service conducted by the Rev. Joseph Heslin. Burial was in the family plot at St. Francis Cemetery in Trout River.

12-03-1941 Jane Herdman, widow of the late William L. Burns, died at her home in Chateauguay New York, on Wednesday evening, age 83 years. Jane Herdman was born at Herdman Québec, on May 14, 1858, a daughter of Arthur Herdman and Mary Ann Henderson Herdman. In 1881, she was united in marriage to William L. Burns. After marriage, the young couple resided on the Burns farm located in the Quaker settlements section north of Chateauguay Village. In 1919 she purchased the residence on East Main Street, Chateauguay, where she has since resided. Mr. Burns predeceased her in 1919. She was a faithful member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church at Herdman and an active worker in the Presbyterian Church in Chateauguay. Surviving are her three daughters, Mrs. T. Arthur Oliver, and Mrs. Stella Thurber of Chateauguay, Mrs. Warren's C. Lockerby of Malone New York, one granddaughter, Miss Hyla Jane Lockerby of Malone, two grandsons, William D. Oliver, of Atlanta GA, and Robert W. Oliver of Chateauguay. Many nieces and nephews mourn her demise. Funeral services were held at the home, service conducted by the Rev. W. S. Hatcher of St. Paul's Church, in Herdman Québec assisted by the Rev. V.S. Alison, pastor of the Chateauguay Presbyterian Church. Burial in the Herdman Cemetery.

The sympathy of the entire community goes out to these two families in their double sorrow, Mrs. Edgar Vaincourt was a daughter of Mr. J. T. and the late Mrs. Vaincourt. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Anderson and was born on the Gore, June 13th, 1897. He was united in marriage with Jesse Christina McNaughton of Boyd Settlement in 1918. Mr. Anderson was a farmer, of quiet nature,a good and kind neighbor, ever willing to help. He leaves to mourn, his wife, Jesse, two daughters, Ruth, Mrs. Ernie Wilson of Montreal, May at home, two sons, Ralph and Stewart at home, one son-in-law, Ernie Wilson and one little grandson, Robert Wilson. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Anderson, three brothers, Stanley and Nelson of the Gore, Hinchinbrooke Québec, Donald of Malone New York, two sisters, Eva, Mrs. Willie Graham of the Gore, and Irma, Mrs. Morton Manson of Malone New York, and several nieces and nephews. 12-26-1941 Mary Ann Simm, beloved wife of the late James McWhinnie, died at Allan's Corners Québec, in her 86 year. Her husband died just five weeks ago. She was born in Scotland in 1856. After her marriage 55 years ago, she lived on the Chateauguay River, where she has since resided. Left to mourn, are two sons, Errol at home, Gordon of Montreal, and one daughter, Ella, Mrs. J. D. Hamilton, also eight grandchildren. Funeral service was held at St Paul's Church in Ormstown Québec.

Besides her sister, her nearest relatives are a nieces and nephew, children of the late Mr. John Kellas, the former noted lawyer of Malone New York ,Messrs W. R. and E. E. Perry, and Mrs. S. M. Simpson, of Covey Hill, are cousins of the deceased, also her sister, Miss Elipa Kellas, principal of Emma Willard's school.

She was born in St.Anicet Québec, in 1859, daughter of the late Donald Stewart and his wife, Sera McMillan. She was married in 1886 to Mr. Allan McNichol of St.Anicet. Her husband predeceased her in 1925. She leaves to mourn, three sons, Stewart and Duncan of St.Anicet and Hugh of Dundee, one sister, Mrs. Chaffee, of Bainsville Ontario, as well as a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral service were held from the residence of Mr. Steere McNichol, in St.Anicet, conducted by the Rev. H. Lindley. Burial in Zion Church cemetery.
