01-07-1945 Sarah Dawson, beloved wife of the late Charles Dewick, formerly of Huntingdon Québec, died at the residents of her daughter, Mrs. George Winter in Ormstown Québec, in her 85th year. She was daughter of the late William Dawson and his wife, Elizabeth Johnson, spending her early childhood at Rockburn. In 1894, she was united in marriage to the late Charles Dewick, of Huntingdon Québec, where she resided for 34 years, later moving to Ormstown. She leaves to mourn, one son, Charles E. of New London CT, and two daughters, Mrs. Mary G. Winter, of Ormstown, and Mrs. John A. Cluff of Valleyfield, two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Fennell of Montreal and Mrs. Stanley Flower of Vancouver BC, also six grandchildren. Funeral took place at Ormstown Québec on January 09, 1945

She was born at St. Remi Québec, she was married to Thomas Duncan in 1893, besides her husband, she leaves four daughters, May Elizabeth, who is with the Montreal Gazette sales department, Mrs. Arthur Lang, Mrs. Arthur McGuire, and Mrs. Fred Sanford of Lachine Québec, three sons, Thomas Stuart Duncan, John Duncan, who is in charge of the Montreal Gazette engraving department, and Norman Duncan of Cincinnati OH. She was a faithful member of the Huntingdon Presbyterian Church. Funeral service will be held from her late residents in Huntingdon Québec.

01-09-1945 Thomas Moore, beloved husband of the late Margaret Standage, died at the Barrie Memorial Hospital in Ormstown Québec, age 84 years. Funeral from St. Paul's United Church in Ormstown Québec on January 12. Service conducted by the Rev. Thomas Knowles of Huntingdon United Church.

01-11-1945 Horace Wampole Boyd, beloved husband of Estella Smith of St Chrysostome Québec, died at the Barrie Memorial Hospital in Ormstown Québec, age 66 years. Her is survived by his widow, three sons and one daughter. Funeral took place at the Russeltown Church.

01-13-1945 Francois Desgroseilliers, wife of the late Wilfred Desgroseilliers, died at Howick Québec, age 80 years.

01-12-1945 Alexander Johnston, eldest son of the late James and Sarah Johnston of Herdman Québec, died suddenly at his late residents, 341 Highland Avenue in Fitchburg Massachusetts, age 72 years. Interred at Fitchburg Massachusetts. He was born and spent his boyhood at Herdman Québec, he was the son of James Johnson and his wife, Sarah Martin, and while still a youth went to Massachusetts, and for the past 37 years, resided their where he conducted the Johnson Pattern Shop, until his retirement a few years ago. He was twice married, first to Miss Margaret Matheson, who died in 1939, and secondly, to Miss Jesse Taylor, who survives with his daughter, Mrs. Harold G. Gilson , two grandchildren, a sister, Mrs. F. Johnston of Rockburn Québec, and a brother Charles of Worcester Massachusetts. Funeral was held on Sunday from the Rollstone Congregational Church, of which he was a member and served as Deacon for many years, service conducted by his pastor, the Rev.H.I. Bailey of the first Methodist Church. Interred in Forest Hill Cemetery.

The late Mr. and Mrs. Fortune celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary 11 years ago. To this union, a son James, of Huntingdon, and a daughter, Claire, Mrs. C. Mrs. Martin was born in Oswego New York, on July 31st, 1873, daughter of the late John and Zona Bashaw French. She was married to Mr. Angus Leclair who predeceased her in 1930. In 1932 she was married to Mr. Richard Martin. Surviving are her husband, and daughters, Lottie, Mrs. William Quinn Melville, of St. Agnes, Mabel, Mrs. Alphonse Belanger of Montreal, Mrs. Priscilla Lacombe, of Malone New York, Mildred, Mrs. Harold White of Malone New York, Marjorie, Mrs. George Fullum of Montreal. Funeral services were held from St. Mary's Church in Fort Covington NY, service conducted by the Rev. Robert O.Duford. The body was placed in St. Mary's Cemetery vault to await burial in the spring.

He was born at Trout River Québec, on November 28, 1881, son of George and Olive Cole Bombard, he never married. He is survived by two sisters, who reside down East. His body was brought to the Cosgrove Funeral Home, where a funeral service was conducted on January 20, by Rev. C. T. Martin, pastor of the Methodist Church. The remains were placed in the vault in Elmwood Cemetery and burial will be made in the spring, in Glenelm Québec, where his mother and brother are buried.

01-31-1945 Judith Mary Hebert, daughter of Private Arthur Hebert, overseas, and Mrs. Hebert of Hemmingford Québec, died after a short illness at the Champlain Valley Hospital in Plattsburgh New York, age 08 months, seven days.

02-03-1945 Alfred Earl Hillman, died at Ormstown Québec, beloved husband of Blanche Leighton, age 53 years. He was born in Brownsville Junction, Maine, on January 31st, 1892. He had been employed by the CNR Railway for 26 years, retiring two years ago. Surviving are his widow, the former Blanche Leighton, two daughters, Edna, Mrs. Edwin Baskin, of Ormstown Québec, Dorothy, Mrs. Leo Cayen of Joliette Québec. His only brother, Edwin Hillman, Joliette Québec, and two grandchildren. Funeral services were held from Saint James Anglican Church in Ormstown Québec, service conducted by the Rev. W. T. Payne. The remains were placed in the vault to await burial at Joliette in the spring.

01-30-1945 Janet Sinton, beloved wife of the late William Kerr, died at Howick Québec, age 88 years. Her sister, Mrs. John Slater, passed away just six weeks ago. Surviving are one daughter, Miss Ethel Kerr of Howick Québec, three sons, James, Melville, and Haddon Kerr of Montreal, ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Cunningham and Mrs. Armstrong of Montreal, one brother, John Sinton of Granby CT. Burial was in the Union Cemetery, Ormstown Québec.

02-12-1945 Miss Mary McCormick, died at the home of her brother, in Brooklet Québec, Miss McCormick was born in Hinchinbrooke Québec, 67 years ago, a daughter of the late John and Rosa O'Meara McCormick. She is survived by two brothers, John of Chateaugay New York, and Felix of Hinchinbrooke Quebec, one sister-in-law, Mrs. W. D. McCormick of Huntingdon Québec, besides numerous nephews and nieces. Mass was celebrated in the Roman Catholic Church in Hinchinbrooke, Interment took place in St. Joseph Cemetery in Huntingdon Québec.

02-10-1945 Mary A.McGarvey, daughter of the late Thomas McGarvey and the late Eliza Barrett of St. Agnes de Dundee Québec, died at Springfield MA, in her 80th year. The body arrived in Fort Covington, Wednesday, and was placed in St. Mary's vault to await burial in the family plot at St. Agnes Québec. Miss McGarvey was born in St. Agnes Québec, She was the last surviving member of large family. She was a saleslady representing Marshall Field of Chicago. After retiring from work she went to live at St. Luke's Home, 79 Spring Street, Springfield MA.

02-22-1945 Kenneth Wade Hogle, beloved husband of Gladys McCracken, of 3520 McTavish Street, died suddenly in Montreal, in his 46 year. Mr. Hogle was born in Malone New York, son of Mrs. Hogle and the late Edwin E. Hogle. He was a graduate from Franklin Academy and from New York military Academy, and studied for a time at Dartmouth College. He was united in marriage with Miss Gladys McCracken of Huntingdon Québec, about 15 years ago. She survives, with two daughters, Miss Dorothy Hogle of Montreal, and Mrs.Gretchen Hoke, wife of Major Robert Hoke, at present in Virginia, his mother, one brother, Clarence, of Malone New York, and one grandson, Robert Hoke Jr. Funeral was held from the Huntingdon United Church, Interred in the Huntingdon Protestant Cemetery.

She was the daughter of the late James MacNair and his wife, Elizabeth Warren, and had been married for 38 years, she is survived by her husband and her two son's, James and Norman, who live at the old home, and by her daughter, Mary, Mrs. Charles Gilmore of Barrie ON. Also by two brothers, Donald MacNair of Huntingdon and Thomas MacNair of Clyde's Corners, and by two sisters, Mrs. David Anderson, and Mrs. Alfred Pepper of Vankleek Hill ON. Funeral service was held at St. Andrews Church in Huntingdon Québec.

She was mother of Wesley Thompson, she was tenderly cared for by her daughter, Mrs. McIntosh and granddaughter, Miss Ruth McIntosh, having been confined to bed for several years. Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Thomson and daughters, Mary, Jennie, Alexa and Lucy, accompanied by Mr. Louis LaPlante, attended the funeral service on Saturday, March 03.

02-28-1945 John Francis O'Connor, of 45 Brown Street, formerly of Huntingdon Québec, died at the Alice Hyde Hospital in Malone New York, age 51 years. He was born in Huntingdon Québec, in 1893, he was one of the family of 13 children, of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph O'Connor. Twenty-two years ago he was united in marriage with Miss Irene O’Leary of Huntingdon, and soon after their wedding the couple moved to Malone New York when they made their home. Surviving besides his widow, are three daughters and two sons, Misses Alice, Betty, and Dorothy, and Edward O'Connor, all reside at home, Joseph O'Connor, overseas in France, there are also a sisters, Sister Helen Marie, Miss Catherine O'Connor, Mrs. Annie Finnigan, Mrs. Elizabeth Robidoux, and Mrs. Julia McGowan of Huntingdon Québec, Mrs. Margaret Evans of Calgary Alberta, Mrs. Minnie Lapoints, and Mrs. Lucy Harrigan of Saranac Lake New York. And on April 07, his brother, John Alexander Rennie, in his 73rd year, beloved husband of Mary Wallace. They were brothers of the late Mr. and Mrs. John G. Rennie, who resided at Brooklet Quebec, and they were born at the farm home, Frederick was born in 1866, and John was born in 1872. Their father, John Gillies Rennie, also died quite suddenly when he was only 38 years of age. Frederick married Marietta C. Carter McIntosh of Rockburn, in 1903, and there were three children, Capt. John G., overseas, and Alice at home, and Capt. Donald F. of the Black Watch of Canada . John married Mrss Mary Ann Wallace of Powerscourt in 1909, and there were two children, Grace, Mrs. A C. Ironside of Montreal, John Wallace at home, two sisters, Mrs. James M. Winter senior, and Mrs. Randall Dunn, both formerly of Ormstown, predeceased his brother some years ago. The brothers are also survived by two sisters, Mrs. T. B. Stark and Miss Agnes Rennie, both of Huntingdon Quebec. A joint funeral service was held at Huntingdon United Church, on Monday afternoon, April 9, conducted by the Rev. Thomas Knowles. The deceased were laid to rest side-by-side as they had wished in the Hillside Cemetery, Brooklet Quebec.

04-19-1945 Robert James Keir, beloved husband of the late Janet Rorison, died suddenly at the residence of his daughter, Mrs. Robert Templeton, at Riverfield Québec, age 81 year's. He was born at Aubrey Québec, on February 25th, 1864, and was united in marriage to Janet Rorison, in December, 1892, and spent several years in Toledo OH, where their three children were born. Coming back to Canada in 1902, they settled on the old Carson farm at Riverfield for 20 years. After the death of his wife in 1922, he and his daughter moved to Calgary AB, where they stayed for several year's, returning East after the marriage of his daughter to Mr. Robert Templeton with whom he made his home. Funeral service were held in the Riverfield Presbyterian Church, service conducted by the Rev. G.E. Bingham, assisted by the Rev. K. H. Woodwork, members of the I 00F, No. 50, were in attendance and held a short service at the graveside. He leaves to mourn, a son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. James Keir, of Indus AB, his daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Templeton, eight grandchildren and two great-grandsons, another son, William, paid the supreme sacrificing World War I in 1916.

In 1883, he married Miss Christina MacDougall, who died in 1911 and who is buried in Ormstown. Up to last year Mr. Bryson and his second wife had made their home in the Lake region of Minnesota. With failing health he moved to Cleveland to be near his daughter, Mrs. Lillian Bowman and his son, Dr. Kenneth Bryson in Cleveland OH. He leaves to mourn, also two sisters, Mrs. Jennie Ledden of Galt Ontario, and Mrs. Fanny Wilson of Middleton CT, his daughter, Mrs. Patty Couch of Rochester NY, a son, Arthur of South Bend Indiana, three granddaughters, and a great-grandsons, Bruce Bryson Kern.

His funeral took place on what would have been his 52nd wedding anniversary. He is survived by his wife, a son, Frederick C. Sweet, a daughter, Mrs. P. D. MacTavish, a brother, Frederick A Sweet of Hemmingford, also seven grandchildren in Vancouver. Funeral services were held at the Chapel of Center of Hanna, service conducted by the Rev. E. D. Steele of Rockburn, James E., a veteran of the last great war, Everett, Ewart and Osborne, all living on farms on the English River, and who together are with 14 grandchildren. Her husband predeceased her 19 years ago. Funeral service were held at her late home, on Friday, June 29th, service conducted by the Rev. K. Woodwork, of the Howick United Church. Interment in the family plot in Riverfield Cemetery.

She was the last surviving daughter of the late Alexander Thompson and his wife Dorothy Craig, and was born in Elgin Township Québec, spending her entire life there. She was married to Thomas wood of Powerscourt Québec, on November 12th, 1873, who predeceased her 46 years ago. To this union four children were born, Dorothy Mary, late wife of William Thompson, John Alexander of Herdman, Annie Edna, wife of William Platt, and Fred William, with whom she resided, she had five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the Powerscourt United Church, service conducted by the Rev. Mr. Carr. She was laid to rest in Athelstan Cemetery beside her late husband.

07-19-1945 Mrs. Clergy, wife of the late Mr. Clergy, died in New York, she was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Brady and was in her 64th year. She was the eldest of a family of five, one sister, Annie, and one brother, Hugh, besides her parents, predeceased her a number of years ago. She and her husband made their home in Montana, after his death, nine years ago she returned to New York and has since that time made her home with her sister, Margaret, Mrs. Supple. Funeral services were held in St Antoine Abbe Québec, and Interment took place in the St. Antoine Cemetery in the Brady Plot.

09-23-1945 Dennis McKeegan, beloved son of the late Mr. and Mrs. James McKeegan of Ormstown Quebec, was accidentally killed at Ormstown Quebec, age 39 years. He leaves to mourn, his sisters, Mary and Helen, his father having passed away a year ago last February, two of his brothers, Michael and John, were victims of a drowning accident May 22, 1930, James Jr. was killed in action in the 1914, 1918 World War. He was born in Hinchinbrooke Quebec, on June 21st, 1878, and moved with his parents, the late Samuel McClatchey and Elizabeth Mason, to Hemmingford in August of the year. Since 1900, he operated a hardware store and Tinsmithing and plumbing business. A heart condition has slowed up his active business life for the past three years. He leaves to mourn, a niece, May Bennett, a member of his household since early childhood, a sister, Margaret, of Smith falls ON, and two brothers, David of Plattsburgh New York, and Lewis of Delhi ON. Funeral service was held on Thursday, September 27 from St. Andrew's United Church, where he has served as an elder and choir member, following service conducted by Hemmingford Masonic Lodge No. 72 which he was an active member. Mrs. Barrington was daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Barrington, born February 04, 1872, near St. Martine Quebec. After their marriage they move to Ormstown Quebec. Surviving Mrs. Barrington are three brothers, all living. Funeral services held in St. James Anglican Church in Ormstown Quebec. Interred in the Anglican Cemetery.

(Not dated) William J. McGibbon of Westville New York, died at the home of his brother-in-law, William Campbell in Huntingdon Quebec, age 82 years. Mr. McGibbon was born May 19, 1863, in Westville New York, a son of Walter McGibbon and Jane McFadden of that community. His father was a native of Dundee Quebec. In the late 1800s Mr. McGibbon married Lillian Stark of Westville, who died 44 years ago. One son of this marriage, Walter S. McGibbon of Westville survives, along with six grandchildren, Janet, Lyle, Arthur, Joyce, Leah and Robert, all children of Walter. Five of the six grandchildren live at home in Westville, while Arthur is serving in the United States Army. On September 14, 1904, Mr. McGibbon and Sarah Shaw Campbell of Elgin Township Quebec, were united in marriage at Dundee Quebec, she survives him. Surviving also a sister, Mrs. John B. Martin of North Bangor, also several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock, from the home of his son, Walter S. McGibbon, with Rev. J. H. Woodside of Northfield Station ON. And Rev. Carr of Kensington.

11-11-1945 Mary Moore, wife of the late George Moore of Dewittville Quebec, died at the Barrie Memorial Hospital in Ormstown Quebec, in her 82nd year. Mrs. Moore was one of four daughters of the late William Williams of Rockburn Quebec, who has spent all their lives in this County. She was predeceased by her husband in July of this year. Surviving are Mrs. John McIntosh of East Templeton, Douglas and Fred Allin who farms nearby, and Mrs. Ernest McEwen of Ormstown, also a number of grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, Interred in the Huntingdon Protestant Cemetery.

11-21-1945 James Forbes Black, died at the Calgary General Hospital, in Calgary AB, age 83 years. Formerly of Huntingdon Québec. He was born near Huntingdon Québec, as a young man he moved to Mount Forest Ontario and there engaged in farming for a number of years before moving to Calgary in 1904. He was a well-known building contractor in Calgary for the Snowdon oil Refinery, and the Northstar plant, and the Canadian oil company warehouses. His wife, Julia, died in Calgary in 1940. Surviving are two sons, Dr. Noble Black of Toronto, Roy L. Black of Calgary, and three grandchildren. Mr. Black was a member of the Central United Church.

From that day she always lived in Boyd Settlement, Hinchinbrooke Québec. She leaves to mourn, her aged husband, four son's, Walter and John and home on the farm, Hugh Jr. and Andrew, recently returned from active service overseas, four daughter's, Ella, Mary Marcella, Annie, Mrs. Small, who candidly cared for her mother until it became necessary to receive daily Hospital treatments. Mrs. Fred Jones and Mrs. J. E. Flynn are sisters. Funeral services were held at St. Joseph's Church in Huntingdon Québec, service conducted by the Rev. Father G. Quenneville. She was born Leloise Duval, on July 04,1863 in St. Louis Québec, daughter of Michael and Philoman Duvall, she was united in marriage with Joseph Labarge of Athelstan Québec, on November 23rd, 1884. Mr. Labarge passed away November 16, 1915. She resided in Athelstan until February of 1941, when she went to Malone to resided with her son, Frank Labarge of 37 Brown Street. Surviving are six children, Mrs. Rose Hingston of Malone New York, Fred Labarge of Athelstan Québec, Mrs. Celina Palmer of Watertown New York, Frank Labarge of Malone, Wilbur Labarge of Ernford Saskatchewan, and Mrs. Angeline Rollins of Watertown. The remains were cremated in the Alta Mesa Cemetery and will be brought to Huntingdon, May 04,1946. Interment will take place Sunday, May 05, at 2 p.m., in Huntingdon Protestant Cemetery. The Rev. 12-28-1945 Samuel Alexander Henderson, died at his home on the Gore, Hinchinbrooke Québec, age 58 years 07 months. Taken away was a lifelong resident of the Gore, when Samuel Alexander Henderson died at his home after a long and lingering illness. The deceased was the son of Elizabeth Armstrong and William Henry Henderson, and was born on the Gore on May 28th, 1887, one of five children, all the rest of whom are living. He lived all his life at the Gore and in 1908, married Anna Kelly. Three children were born of this union, his wife died on March 25th, 1927. On May 08, 1929, he was married a second time to Christina Gauthier, of Powerscourt,Que. The deceased had been unable to work since 1932, and had been confined to his bed since 1943. He was a member of St. Paul's Anglican Church, at Herdman Quebec. Surviving are his mother, Mrs. William Henry Henderson, his wife, Mrs. Christina Henderson, and four brothers, George of Hamilton Ontario, Gordon of Miami FL, Earl of the Gore, and Stewart of Listowel Ontario, one daughter, (Mabel) Mrs. J. A. White of Ottawa Ontario, one son, Morris of the Gore, and one granddaughter. Burial to place in the Gore Cemetery, Hinchinbrooke Quebec.
