The information on the notary records was collected by Gina Smith  during her own family history research. Except for the fact that the notaries listed below were located in Huntingdon, Chateauguay, and Beauharnois Counties, Gina did not follow any particular plan in her selection of notaries or time periods. When mentioned in the actual record, Gina noted any family relationships, as well as their place of residence outside the Chateauguay Valley. Copies of these records may be obtained from the Montreal branch of the Quebec Archives  . The National Library and Archives  of Quebec will charge a small fee for this service based on the number of pages, plus tax & postage. There is usually a minimum charge of $2.00. The National Library and Archives  of Quebec is also working to provide images of the indexes of Quebec notaries at Archives des notaires du Québec des origines à 1906 .
