Maps are a useful way to get a pictorial view of where your ancestors lived. There are various types of maps you can consult - ranging from the topographic maps that show contour lines, elevations, and place names to the thematic maps that show things like diocesan boundaries and areas.

Expedia.com maps
When you get to this site click on the Mapstab near the top of the page. Then click on Find a Map. Leave the default set at Search for a place and then type in the name of the place you want in the box below the words Place name. Scroll down until you see the arrow pointing to the right and the words Find a map. Click on Find a map.
You may then be asked to refine your search from a list of options. Choose the one most suitable and click on Find a map again.


Catholic Dioceses and Archdioceses / Diocèses et archdiocèses catholiques
Click on Catholic Church in Canada. This will bring you to a general map showing the religious provinces. Click on the word Quebec to get to the map showing the dioceses and archdioceses in Quebec.
