Antoine Labelle was at the same time parish priest of Saint-Jérôme and deputy minister of colonisation, at the end of the 19th Century. His greatest contribution to the development of the Laurentians was the construction of a railway, first to Saint-Jérôme, and then to Sainte-Agathe and Mont-Laurier.

Very little remains today of that era, apart from a few stations that have survived the assaults of time, either on the "Petit train du Nord" line (the Canadian Pacific from Montréal to Mont-Laurier), or on one of the other lines.
