in Burgeo, Newfoundland
and came to Harrington Harbour, Quebec
ca. 1880 and settled at Gull Cliff. He was married twice: first wife-
Grace Sarah Matthews (1850-1893); second wife – Isabella Mitchell
(1855-1913). Click here for an

in Harrington Harbour, Quebec.
He was married two times - first Florence Jones with 6 children, second
Mildred Anderson with 8 children. He was a fisherman, a game warden and
keeper of the light house on Shag
Island. The picture

daughter of William Bobbitt and Jane Hann. She was born in Burgeo and
came to Harrington in 1872 with her family. She left the Coast to live

Charlotte Bobbitt (1870-1950) was
born in Burgeo, Newfoundland
daughter of John Bobbitt and Grace Sarah Matthews. About 1885-1890 her
father John moved his family to the Harrington Archipelago. Her
grandparents the late William Bobbitt and Jane Hann were already
established there. Charlotte
married John Jones (1862-1941) son of Gilbert Jones and Louisa Butt of
Wolf Bay, Quebec. John was a fisherman. Charlotte
was well known as a "trapper"! She was also telegraph operator at (the

Elizabeth
"Lill" Jane Bobbitt ( 1885-1969 ) was born at Harrington
Harbour the daughter
of John Bobbitt and Grace Sarah Matthews. She was married twice, first
to Gilbert Jones son of Gilbert Jones and Louisa Butt of Wolf
Bay, and second to
Joseph Jones son of Edward Jones and Josephine Fortier of Tete-a-la-Baleine,
Quebec. Aunt Lill had no
family by either marriage and outlived both husbands by many years. Her
late years was spent living with her niece Dot Court Ransom (pictured

(1888-1956) was born in Harrington Harbour,
Quebec Lower North Shore the
son of Charles Bobbitt and Grace Alice Simms. Charl married Florence
“Maud” Styles daughter of George Styles and Johanna “Annie” Anderson of
Mutton Bay, Quebec Lower
North Shore.

William (Will) Bobbitt
(1873-1949) was born in Harrington
Harbour, the son of
William Bobbitt and Jane Hann who were the first generation Newfoundland
livyers. He married Mary (Polly) Way of Flowers Cove, Newfoundland,
and they had 13 children. Uncle Will was a shop keeper, as so ably
described (ca.1929) by Dr Johnson in "A Doctor Regrets" (click here / cliquez ici).

Walter Bobbitt (1895-1987) and
his wife Margaret "Meg" Jones (1900-1992). Walter (Uncle Walt) was well
known for his love of the harmonica; he played at every opportunity,

Robert Bobbitt (1858-1931), Sarah
Jane Gallichan (click here) with children and extended family. Robert
was born in Burgeo, Newfoundland
and immigrated to Harrington in 1851 with his parents and siblings.
Robert and Sarah had 15 children. They moved to Halifax
somewhere between 1917 and 1920.

Ivan Wallace Bobbitt (1908-1989),
son of William Wallace Bobbitt and Jessie Rowsell-Bobbitt. Ivan was
born in Harrington Harbour 19 February 1908. He died in Halifax
on 08 March 1989.
He came to Halifax from
Harrington with his parents and siblings somewhere between 1917 and
1920. He married Helena Doyle and became the father of eight children -
six boys and two girls. He was a carpenter by trade, an avid fisherman
and also enjoyed hunting. He took his boys rabbit hunting. He served in
World War II in Europe. Upon retirement from
the Army he completed a drafting course at the Nova
Scotia Technical College.

Harbour with his
family as a young lad in 1872. He married (1) Grace Alice Simms
(1863-1889) born in Le Plante, Newfoundland
daughter of Benjamin Simms and Martha Anderson. He had two children by
Grace Simms. He married (2) Alice “Jane” Chislett (1870-1953) born West
Point, Newfoundland
daughter of Charles Chislett and Frances Anderson. They raised a family
of eleven children in Harrington Harbour,
Quebec Lower North Shore.

Ella May Bobbitt (1896-1987) was
born in Harrington Harbour, Quebec
Lower North Shore the daughter of William Bobbitt and Mary “Polly”
Waye. She married Henry Rowsell (1887-1953) son of John Mountain
Rowsell and Mary Elizabeth Nash. They raised a family of nine children
in Harrington Harbour, Quebec
Lower North Shore. The people of her time who were children remember
