Frobisher, Thomas (1744-1788), fur-trader was born in Yorkshire, England in 1744, the brother of Benjamin Frobisher and Joseph Frobisher. He came to Canada about 1769, and engaged in the fur-trade with his brothers. He was on the Saskatchewan in 1773 and on the Athabaska river in 1774; and in 1776 he founded the first post at Isle a la Crosse. Though a good man in the bush, he apparently lacked the business capacity of his brothers. He died at Montreal on September 12, 1788. [C. Davidson, The North West Company (Berkeley, Cal., 1919);
