JOSEPH SNOWDON*
1816-1842

Joseph Snowdon was born June 8, 1816 in Kennet, Clackmannanshire, Scotland.  In 1820, he was brought to his father James Snowdon Sr. in Montreal.  His grandmother Janet Sharp Snowdon, and other family members, accompanied him.  He married in Canada to Elizabeth Hutchison, a neighbor's daughter.  They had three daughters; Janet (who died before her father), Margaret and Mary.

At age 21, Joseph Snowdon and his father James Snowdon Sr. joined the Royal Montreal Cavalry during the 1837 Rebellion.  Joseph Snowdon remained in the volunteer militia as a member of the Lachine Company until 1839.

Joseph Snowdon died June 26, 1842 in Montreal at age 26, of unknown causes.  He is buried near the Côte St. Luc Snowdon family farm site.
