From the first page of the register book 1891:

"This book containing twenty-four folio or double pages was presented this day by  Dr. T. J.W. Burgess, Superintendant, Protestant Hospital for the Insane, Montreal, to serve as a register of Deaths of Patients, whos bodies remain unclaimed and are handed over to the Inspector of Anatomy during the year one thousand eight-hundred and ninety one.  And was this day duly authenticated by the undersigned Prothonetary of the Superior Court for Lower Canada in the district of Montreal, and he has caused the seal of the said Court to be herto affixed.
Done at Montreal the eleventh day of July one thousand eight hundred and ninety one."
