
Randall Holden was born April 1660 in Warwick, Kent,
RI, the son of Randall and Frances (Dungan) Holden, and died September
13, 1726 in Warwick, Kent, RI. On January 27, 1686/87 Randall married
Bethiah Waterman, born abt 1664, the dau. of Nathaniel and Susanna (Carder)
Waterman. She died July 23, 1742 in Warwick, Kent, RI.
RANDALL HOLDEN - WILL
In ye Name of God Amen I Randall Holden of ye Town of Warwick in ye Colony of Rhoad Island and Providence Plantations Calling to mind ye Mortallity of my body and Considering that it is appointed for all Men once to Dye and not knowing how soon it may please God to Call me out of this Life Do make and ordain This my Last Will and Testament; that is to say first and Principally I do Give and Recommend my Soule into ye hands of allmighty God yt [that] Gave it in Whose Eternall being I do wholy Trust; and my body I do Recommend to ye Earth to be buried in Decent manner at ye Discretion of my Executor here after named And as for what worldly Estate it hath pleased God to Bless me withall I Do Dispose of according to ye following manner and form In ye first place I do Give to my Dearly and well beloved wife Bethiah Holden all my household goods to be at her dispose for ever except what I shall other wise Dispose of in this following Will
Item I Give and bequeath to my Eldest Son John Holden all my wright off Land and meadow in yt parcell of Land Commonly Called and known by ye name of ye Seven ( ) farm in this Town of Warwick above sd and allso I do Give unto my above sd Son John my Lot at ye end of ye Town next adjoyning to Benjamin Gortons land and Called by ye name of ye Twenty acre lot and bounded by ye [shore] and allso I Give to my above sd Son John one half Township wright of Warwick Commons which is yet undivided which half Township I Latly bought of my sd Son John Referance to ye Deed being had may more at [large] [appear]) which Three Several parcells of Land given to my said Son John Holden I do Give to him & his heirs forever
Item I Give to my Daughter Susanna Holden one hundred pounds in Currant money or in Currant bills of Credit to be paid by my Executor here after named to be disposed of my by Loving wife for ye use and bennefit of our Daughter Susanna so long as my sd wife shall think Convenant and afterwards to be at ye dispose of same and of our Children for ye use and bennefit of our Daughter Susanna as above sd and to whichso ever of our Children as shall be that shall have ye disposing of ye above hundred pounds shall have ye whole Care and Charge of my above sd Daughter and when it shall please God to Call my sd Daughter Susanna out of this Life Then my will is ye above sd one hundred pounds be equally divided amongst ye Rest of my children that shall be then living or legal Representatives
Item I do Give and bequeath to my Daughter Wate Holden one hundred pounds in Currant money or in Currant bills of Credit to be paid to her by my Executor here after named Also I Do Give to my Daughter Wate one feather bed with beding suitable to it and also I do Give her one Dweling house
Item I Give unto my Daughter Mary Holden one hundred pounds in Currant money or in Currant bills of Credit to be paid to her by my Executor here after named
Item I Give to my Daughter Frances Holden one pounds in Currant money or in Currant bills of Credit to be paid to her by my Executor here after named
Item All ye Rest and Residue of my Estate both real and personal that is housing land meadows orchards Cattle Swine sheep and any other Estate whatsoever Excepting my house kind after my funerall Charges and Debts Legacies are Duly paid I do Give ye one half there of to my Dear and Loving Wife During her natural Life if she Doth Remain a Widow but if my sd wife should see cause to Change her Condition by marriage then my Will is yt my sd wife shall have Two hundred pounds in Currant money or in Currant bills of Credit paid to her at ye time of her marriage and she to be wholy quit and Discharged from ye above sd half of my Estate & sd Two hundred pounds to be paid by my Executor here after named
Item The other half of my Estate as above mentioned I do Give to my Son Randall Holden & to him his heirs and assigns for ever and also as to ye half of my above mentioned Estate which I gave to my Loving Wife Bethiah Holden that at her marriage if she doth marry I Do Give ye Same to my above sd Son Randall Holden and to his heirs and assigns for ever or otherwise I do give ye Land at my sd Wives Decease to be and Remain to him his heirs and assigns forever and also I Do Give to my sd Son Randall all my house Kind Excepting that house above sd given to my Daughter Wate to be at his own dispose only my Will further is that my Son Randall shall keep one [Rentable] Living House for his mother to be at her dispose and use so long as they shall be [Concerned] together in ye Estate and also I Do Give my sd Son Randall that feather bed which he Lodges upon with suitable beding thereunto
Lastly I Do Constitute make and ordain my Son Randall Holden above sd
to be my Sole Executor to this my Last Will and Testament fully to Execute

At a Councill meeting holden in Warwick ye 11th of November 1726 Mr.
John Carder and Mr. Joseph Stafford two of ye Witnesses to ye within written
will personally appeared and made oath that they saw ye Testator Maj. Randall
Holden Sign Seal and Declare ye written Testament to be his Last Will and
Testament and that at ye same time he was of a Disposing mind and memory
and that they Signed as Witnesses together with Robert Davis at ye Same
time where upon we ye Councill Do Prove and approve ye will to be Good
and [Vallid] in ye Law according to ye true intent meaning and Purpose
thereof

Item I Give and Bequeath to my Youngest son Randal Holden of said Warwick one pair of Iron doggs one Large plain Chest and one old Looking glass with a black Fraim or to his Legal Representatives to be Delivered by my Executors as above said
Item I give to my Daughter Susanah Holden the use of one feather bed
which my Said Daughter now Lodgeth on During her Natural Life and all the
Residue and Remainder of my Estate whatsoever and wheresoever both Real
and Personal that by Law or equity Lot be or shall in any degree appertain
onto me I give to be equally divided as followeth Viz. one fourth part
therefor to my Eldest Son John Holden or his Legal Representatives and
to his or their heirs or assigns forever and one fourth part thereof to
my Daughter Weight Holden the now wife of William Holdon of Said Town Esq.
or her Legal Representatives and to her or their heirs and assigns forever
and one fourth part thereof to my daughter Mary Rice the now wife of Thomas
Rice of said Town Esq. or her Legal Representatives and to her or their
heirs and assigns forever and the other fourth part thereof to be equally
divided among my three grandchildren Viz. the three children of my Daughter
Frances Low Late of the Town Deceased which by name are called Anthony
Mary and Frances Low or to their Legal Representatives and to their heirs
and assigns forever and lastly I do hereby Constitute Make and ordain my
Two son in Law Viz. William Holden and Thomas Rice above said my whole
and Sole Executors of this my Last Will and Testament and I do hereby utterly
Disallow Revoke and make Void all & every other former Testament or
Testaments Wills Legacies and Bequest and Executors by me in any wise before
Named Willed and Bequeath Ratifying and Confirming this and no other to
be my Last Will and Testament In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my
hand and Seal this eighth day of August in the Eleventh Year of his Majesties
