JOUVET, William Louis/Louis William. William was born on July 13, 1751 in Paris France and he emigrated to the Newport area. He was a French Officer in the American Revolution. He died in Newport on Aug 31, 1815. He married Mary DOWNER b Feb 25, 1759 in Newport. They had 9 children, one of them Hannah JOUVET who married Peter DENNIS, a French emigrant on Jan 25, 1783 in Newport RI. I am interested in following up on William JOUVET and his part in the Revolution.
Searching for BOWLER family history and genealogy. My great- great- grandmother, Eleanor T. BOWLER (1867-1936), married William F. GRAY (1866-1940). They had a son, Frank Lennard GRAY (1889-1959), born near the "Little Narrows" in Bristol, RI. Eleanor & William are buried in the North Burial Ground, Bristol, RI. Son Frank's birth registration lists his parents' place of birth as Bristol. Frank's father's occupation is listed as "Printer" on the same record. I have been told that the BOWLER family hailed from Newport, RI.
LAWTON, George R.: Searching for family of George R. LAWTON, had sister Elizabeth and parents living in 1805 when George willed parents his house and lot in Newport, and after their death to his two children Mary Ann and George. These children are likely from a first marriage sometime before 1799 when he married Ann POLE in Philadelphia, PA. There were also two girls Sylva and Teny. Mentioned in the Will is Nicholas E. LAWTON, a Quaker apprenticed to J. Bringhurst. George R. was a Philadelphia merchant being part owner in a Sloop named the Ann and Sarah. Will proved 29 January 1805.
