I am looking for information on Thomas GARRETT, born Newport, RI around 1717. He married Mary POTTER (sister of Simeon of the Gaspee fame). He had a son John (I don't know of other children.) He moved to Nine Partners, NY at some point. They are both Great...grandfathers to me. I think his father's name might be Joseph. Am also trying to find out Thomas' parents and where this line of Garretts originally came from and if they first settled in MA and then went on to RI. Thank you for your help.
I am looking for information about STAFFORDs of Tiverton, Sakonnet Pt., Little Compton. Joshua STAFFORD was born 1798/99 apparently at Sakonnet Point and his brother Philadelphia was apparently also born there in about 1800. Their parents were Abraham STAFFORD born 1774 at Tiverton and their mother was Content SANFORD (STAFFORD) born 1771, possibly at Bristol. It is believed that Abraham and Content married ca 1796 in Bristol. I am trying to see if I can find a birth record for Joshua and Philadelphia and any birth and marriage information about Abraham and Content.

PECKHAM Seeking info on James PECKHAM. I cannot find this particular James in the "Peckham Genealogy" (S.F. Peckham), but did find and Arnold PECKHAM who was married to Martha GEORGE (see ref to Capt. George below). Could these be his parents, and he was left out of the genealogy somehow? What I know or have as clues: - Family info & his daughter's death certificate say he was born Newport RI. - I estimate his birth as c1800. - Family info says his family was connected to "Capt. GEORGE." - Family info says his middle name was "Leopold," but his wife's gravestone lists middle initial "A." - He married Nancy HOLMES "of Plymouth MA" (BAILEY genealogy). Family info says she had ties to the Cornish Tavern there. - They had one daughter named Martha G. PECKHAM, b. c1838 possibly in NH. (Not sure about other children). Martha married Edward BAILEY, of Rowley MA, in Kittery, ME on 7 Feb 1860. James is not buried with his wife and daughter. Nancy Holmes' gravestone, located in Rowley MA with her daughter & son- in-law, reads: Mother Nancy Widow of James A. Peckham Born in Plymouth Mass Jan 4 1804 Died in Rowley Mass Feb 6 1883 Does this sound familiar to anyone? Can you tell me who his parents are? Where he was married? Where/when he died? Any information appreciated.
