The Fleurieu Peninsula hosts many festivals during each year and has also been host to some fairly interesting one-off festivals.
Myponga Pop Festival
In January 1971, the small town of Myponga hosted the first ever open air pop music festival in Australia. Thousands of young people flocked to a farm on the outskirts of the town to hear such music legends as Black Sabbath, Fraternity, Fanny Adams, Chain and Billy Thorpe & The Aztecs, to mention just a few.
Willunga Festivals
There are a number of festivals and fetes held in the Fleurieu
town of Willunga each year. Many are touted as celebrations of Willunga's
history, culture and produce. Why not drop on down to Willunga and have a look
around the old Courthouse Museum, visit one of the open air Farmers' Markets or
take in a Folk Festival show.
Every Generation Festival
The Every Generation - It's on for young and old
Festival is held from 1st - 31st October each year. There are events for all
ages. In 2008 our group took part in the festival and produced a DVD of both
group members and members of the public speaking on the subject of "Why we live
where we live". The link below takes you off site to the Every Generation
website for more information.
