| The residence of Capt. Peter Gaillard, son of Capt. Peter Gaillard, of the Rocks. He married Eliza, daughter of the Honorable Theodore Gourdin of Pineville. Their children were: 1. Eliza, who died soon after reaching womanhood; 2. Ellinor, wife of Thomas W. Porcher of Walworth; 3. Eugene, who married Miss Richburg, of St. Matthews and 4. Harriott, wife of Sam. Stoney, Esqr., of Charleston. Capt. Gaillard was one of the most beloved and popular men in the parish. He never courted distinction, but was compelled by the voice of his friends to sit in the Conrvention of 1832; and the same friendly violence made him Captain of the Eutaw State Volunteers, a company raised to support the ordinances of that convention. His second wife was Henrietta, daughter of Sanford Barker of Charleston, who after his death married the Rev. States Lee of Edisto. |
