Richardsons

Black Branch, or Richardsons, was apart of Mrs. Marion's Pond Bluff plantation and was left by her to her grand niece, Mary, the daughter of Richard Singleton of Sumter, and by him sold to Jas. B. Richardson. Between this place and Mr. James Gaillard's, the Rocks, was a small tract of land owned by Miss Ashby, which was also acquired by Richard Singleton and sold to Richardson. Mrs. Gen. Marion divided her Pond Bluff plantation between Mr. Singleton's daughter, who afterwards married George McDuffie, and Col. Keating Lewis Simons.
