Maude Mayelle (Redick) Stukes.

This photograph was taken in Davis Station, SC, around 1919.

She was born in St Stephen's Parish, Berkeley County, South Carolina in

1880. She died in Manning in 1920 in childbirth, a few months after the death of her husband.
 
 

The photograph below is of Thomas Jefferson Stukes, Sr, his wife,
Maude Mozelle (Reddick) Stukes, and three of their children.
The baby in this photo, Ismae, died sometime shortly after the photo was taken.
The older girl is Zuline, who was born in 1900.
The boy is Thomas Jefferson Stukes, Jr., who was born in 1898.
By the ages of the children, this photo would have been taken around 1902-1904.
Thomas Jefferson Stukes, Jr. was born in Davis Station and lived in the Manning area until 1920.

Thomas Stukes, Sr., was a veteran of the Spanish-American War and was a
farmer in Clarendon County for most of his life. He died in 1920 at the age
of 47 in Kingstree. Maude also died in 1920 at 40 yrs of age in Manning.
