I am looking for information on my GGGGrandfather Charles H. Ferguson. He was born about 1793 probably in Warren Co. Ga.
His family later moved to Edgefield Dist. S.C. due to "Indian Troubles". Charles was a Potter by trade and was known to have been associated with Dr. Abner Landrum, a noted Potter in the Edgefield Dist.
Charles' wife was named Celia. I beleve that her father may have been named Sanders Day but I have no concrete proof of this.
I also suspect Charles' father to have been Joseph Ferguson a Justice of the Peace in Richmond Co. Ga. in the early 1790's.
A Joseph Ferguson does appear in the 1810 Edgefield Census. He may have had a will probated there.
I would be most grateful to anyone with information that will help me pull this together.
Thanks

I am looking for the surnames HAZEL or HAZLE or variations thereof -- and
JOHNSON or JOHNSTON in Edgefield Co. I realize there are probably a thousand
JOHNSON-JOHNSTONs, but the ones I am looking for contain the names Charity,
Stanmore, Morris, Samuel, and Amey (any of all of the above). Charity JOHNSON
died in Edgefield Co, about 1848. The HAZELs I am looking for were
descendants of Harry HAZEL. In particular I am researching the family of Seth
Field HAZEL who was, I believe, a grandson of Charity JOHNSON and son of Amey
JOHNSON HAZEL. I don't know his father's given name (but boy, I wish I did!).
If you have any HAZELs or JOHNSONs that fit this description, I'd love to hear
about it. I think they lived in the Terrapin Creek area in what may be now
Saluda Co.
thank you,

On 5 Nov 1818, John Pierce, Sr. sold for $556 to David Bunch, "all that
tract
of land where I now live," containing 307 acres more or less. bounded
by
Alexander Stewart, dec'd, and McWarther. Wit: Joshua Key and Charles
Bussey.<17>
On 9 Jan 1819, Abram Pierce sold for $1800 to William Thurmond, "all
that
plantation or tract of land containing 375 acres lying on Coffee Branch
of
Stephens Creek, waters of Savannah River, being part of a tract
containing 750
acres granted to John Logan on 19 Aug 1774 and whereas Abram Pierce now
lives.
Wit: Geo. B. Elam and Martin Bussey.<18>
On 24 Nov 1819, John Pierce, of the state of Alabama, County of Dallas,
appointed his "trusty friend," David Bunch his true and lawful attorney
to
contract to sell his tract of land containing 340 acres lying on Martin
Town
Road adjoining land of Alexander Stewart, dec'd, McWharter and lands of
Isaac
C. Morgan. Wit: Sampson Butler and William Bostick.<19> Apparently,
John
Pierce, Sr., had moved to Alabama during 1819.
The 1820 South Carolina Census of Edgefield District enumerated Moses
Pierce
(p.98), with 2 males under 10, 1 male 26-45, and 1 female 16-26; and
John
Pierce, Jr. (p.99), with 1 male 26-45 and 1 female 16-26.<20> Since
they were
enumerated on succeeding pages and they and their wives were in their
same
respective age brackets, it is assumed that they were brothers.
The 1820 Georgia Census of Hall County enumerated Reuben Pierce (p.42),
with 3
males under 10, 2 males 10-16, 1 male over 45, 1 female 10-16 and 1
female
26-45.<21> Reuben Pierce, of Jackson County, GA, drew in 1820, lot 45,
Sec.
11, Dickson's Batallion Military District, Hall County in the third land
lottery
of Georgia, which included Hall among eight counties.<22> He, therefore
relocated his family to Hall County in 1820.
Reuben H. Pierce, born in 1812, would have been about eight years old,
and his
father would have been at least fifty. Elizabeth was married in 1818
and was
enumerated in Edgefield District with her husband, James R. Russell.
The only
Pierce households matching the age groups of Reuben H. and his father in
Edgefield District or Hall County, Georgia are that of Reuben Pierce of
Hall
Co., GA.
It is known that Elizabeth (Pierce) Russell and her family moved to Hall
Co.,
GA in about 1822, and the Russell household is believed to have followed
her
family there. Reuben H. Pierce was in school with Elizabeth's son,
Greeneberry
Russell, in the 575th Militia District of Hall Co., GA from about 1825
through
at least 1829.<23>

Surnames: DOUGLASS/DOUGLAS
Looking for any information on the Douglass/Douglas family. My g-grandfather William Douglas lived in the Aiken District and is buried at Bethcar church. He was married to Sarah Jane Keel. We have no idea who his parents were. We think he had a brother named John. The names listed as parents on his death certificate are incorrect because when we researched these people there were not even close to being old enough to be his parents. So we think this may have been his brother or possible grandfathers name. There is a John and Nancy Douglass listed no the 1790 census. Any information sure would be appreciated. We have run into many dead ends with this one.

WILLIAM "WASH" (as the deeds call him) could have been from Northampton Co, NC, originally. I note in the records that a WILLIAM WASHINGTON, Esq., from Charleston was very prominent around 1790 in GA land records. His wife was JANE RIELY ELLIOTT. They were married 1782. Descendants of Pleasant (Plesent) WEBB - 11 May 1998
---------------------------------------------------------------------
FIRST GENERATION
1. Pleasant (Plesent) WEBB1 was born about 1765?.1 In 1880 his son, Elias, said that his father, Pleasant was born in Ireland. He died between 1830 and 1840 in Ohio, USA.1 Around 1800 Pleasant and family came in to the Ohio valley from Rutherford County, North Carolina. In 1803 he was in Scioto County, Ohio and was said to be a notorious character, said to be a Tory during the Revolutionary War. Pleasant was in Greenup County, Kentucky in 1820 and in Lawrence County, Ohio in 1830, he did not appear in the 1840 census, so it is believed he died between 1830-1840.
A writeup on Scioto County, Ohio states that in 1803 Pleasant Webb murdered a man named Squires at the Licks and the salt boilers drove him away from Licks after his crime. It appears that Pleasant went into Greenup County, Kentucky. Pleasant (Plesent) WEBB and Unknown (Margaret?) BLACKWELL had the following children: James WEBB (1786), Elias WEBB (1788), Hanley WEBB (1795), Aden WEBB (1797/1798), Temperance WEBB (1799), William WEBB (1801), Margaret WEBB (1806), Sarah (Sally) WEBB (1809), and Baker WEBB (1811).
