DAR Schools

One of our most important projects is our support of the DAR Schools. Nearest and dearest to South Carolina Daughters is the Tamassee DAR School. The children who come to Tamassee are children in crisis. These children are taken out of their homes for their own safety. These children come to Tamassee alone, frightened, confused, and terribly unsure of their future.

The Staff at Tamassee strives not only to educate these children, but to provide them love, comfort and nurturing. The goal is for these children to overcome their physical, mental and emotional scars. These children become self confident, good citizens. Most of these children go on to college, graduate and live healthy productive lives. Tamassee also instills in these children the DAR Objectives of love and service to God, Home, and Country.

At Fall Forum we generally bring school supplies. We were informed that the school is in desperate need of 40 twin bed sheet sets. I am asking daughters who are able to bring one set of sheets. We will continue to save labels, print cartridges, etc. The ELP Chapter can be proud of our support to Tamassee. We have provided school supplies, snack and first aid items, books for the Academy Library, provided a FUN FUND of $500.00 for extra activities and donations to the resale shop. Members also have contributed their time and money.

We have other DAR Schools who need our support. Please save BOXTOPS for EDUCATION for the KDS School in Alabama. Click here for Information for the needs of the Indian Schools. The ELP Chapter is known as a service chapter and a real “go-go get it done” Chapter. I am proud to be this chairman for this committee. It will be a privilege to serve this administration.

Sincerely, Pharen Elaine Johnson.
