References to a Post Office are found on census records as an approximate location as to where a family lived.

If you find a record that refers to the post office at Greenville C.H. (Greenville Court House) then there was no Post Office in the immediate vicinity and mail had to be picked up in the City of Greenville. This was common in census records up through 1860. An interesting note here... the City of Greenville was often refered to as Greenville Court House by many of the outlying residents until after the Civil War.
