1st Conference Minutes

The Mt. Ariel Free Will Baptist Church was organized October 12, 1896 with Elder H P M Todd as Moderator with 12 members. Bro A W Bridgers by a vote was excepted as our Deacon by his ordination in Missionary Baptist Church before joining this branch of church. J H Baker was unamiously elected church clerk. Elder James T Todd was called to the pastorial charge of this church for the year 1897. Bro Z R Johnson was by his request received in full fellowship. The Allen Schoolhouse was decided the place to hold our monthly preaching until otherwise ordered by this body. On motion we adjourned to meet again at next regular time.

2nd Conference

2nd conference of Mt. Ariel Free Will Baptist Church was held on the 24 Day of October 1896 with Elder James T Todd in the chair. After prayer by Bro P C Phipps the roll was called. All members present except one. After which we preceeded to elect delegates to Oak Grove Free Will Baptist Church to organize a conference or sociation [association] in Horry County. Delegates are as follows A W Bridgers, P C Phipps, A L Todd. We also recomnended that Bro P C Phipps be ordained dreacon while there for this church. Bro Z R Johnson was granted license to preach On motion we adjorined to meet at the next regular time

Called conference of the Mt. Ariel Free Will Baptist was held Nov 21, 1896 Bro Z R Johnson was elected as moderator after which he stated that the object of the meeting which was to elect a building committe which was as follows J H Baker Z R Johnson A W Bridgers On motion we adjourn to meet at our next regular time

3rd conference of Mt Ariel Free Will Baptist Church was held Dec 5, 1896 with Elder James T Todd in the chair. The minutes of last meeting were read and approved. Report from delegates to Oak Grove Church to organize an asociation in this county. Delegates report organized and called Horry County Conference Also acording to our recomendation Bro P C Phipps was ordained Deacon. Condition of church deacons reports all in peace so far conus under their knowledge Sought Sunday School report Sunday School fair under circumtance Building commtte reports Some steps have been taken Bro J H Baker and P C Phipps was elected to secure deeds from Mr J T Sessions for land to build the church on Our moderator gave us some good instruction After which we adjourn to meet at next regular time
