I am researching WILLIAM B WILLIAMS, b Oct 1831 in Horry County. He m Margaret Hux, b 1934-38, in Horry County. They had three children, David b 1854, James Henry, b 1856 and William F., b 1858. Family legend has it that William B. was killed at Gettysburg on July 3, 1863. As yet I have no verification of that, however he was not on the 1870 census. Margaret was living with David Hux, whom I presume to be her father. There was no listing of William F. I can't find any listing for her after 1870. James Henry was my grandfather. Any information on any of these families will be sincerely appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Subject: Early HEMINGWAY family

I'm interested in any information about the early HEMINGWAY family. In particular, several of us are trying to determine the origins of the first HEMINGWAY settlers (Thomas, William). There are stories that they came from England after the Revolution, that they came from Virginia, that there were four brothers . . .

Mrs. Eleanor Wicker and the Three Rivers Historical Society have supplied much information, but the origins remain a mystery.

My site at www.hemingway.net includes information about these South Carolina Hemingways, with links to South Carolina references and at least on query.

Thanks for any information about these early settlers.

    THOMPSON ~ HUGGINS ~ HARRELSON ~ COLLINS

I am seeking info on my gggrandfather, James T. THOMPSON (c1835-c1912).

Originally from Marion Co, he died in Bladen Co NC, with a couple of stops and several relatives in HORRY:

His 1st wife is unknown. With her he had 2 sons, Solomon (G. or Y.) Thompson (b c1853) and William Thompson (b c1854). Said to have gone west, Solomon and/or William may only have gone as far as Horry Co?

His 2nd wife was Martha "Pattie" HARRELSON, dau of the Benjamin HARRELSON who died 1840 in Marion Co. James and Pattie had ch: 1. Warren Winslow Thompson; b 1860; married Laura Ann Bracey of NC 2. Mary Elizabeth Thompson; b 1864, mar Horn of Marion; grgrandmother of jcd 3. Margaret Susan Thompson; b 1866, mar Thompson of Bladen Co NC 4. Lucy Ellen Thompson; b 20 Oct 1870 in Horry, mar Thompson of Bladen

James Thompson's 3rd wife was Peggy Ann Shaw of Abbottsburg, in Bladen Co NC, where James and Peggy Ann died after 1910 census. No issue.

Sorry about the long query,.but I'm hoping to contact descendants of ANY of these folks who might know something about James T. Thompson, or want to share info on any of these families. I'm also hoping against hope that someone might know an oldtimer in Horry near Green Sea or especially near Bucksport who has some memory of hearing something about my old Jimmy T., and can give me some idea of what he was doing down there! :-) One family story is that he was a preacher, but I have found no evidence of that.

Thanks in advance for any clue, no matter how small.

Subject: Philip Phillips, Marion Co., SC

Hi, I have been looking for a Philip/Phillip Phillips for ages. And thought I would finally get around to posting this to you all, hoping that someone out there can help.

My Philip/Phillip Phillips had a daughter named Elizabeth, date of birth about 1765, who married William Lewis who was born about 1760/1765 in Bertie Co., NC.

I have found Philip in Marion County, SC, records in 1801 when he made suit for letters of administration of William Lewis, late of Little Pee Dee. He was also listed in a petition dated August 19, 1802, in connection with the estate of William Lewis. Then, in February 1809, Sarah Lewis, a minor, daughter of William Lewis, late of Cypress Creek, filed a petition asking that her guardian be changed from Philip Phillips to Collins Woodberry.
But I cannot seem to get Philip out of Marion. I have no idea who his parents or ancestors could be...and have a terrible time doing this research from so far away. Is there anyone out there who could give me any further information about this Philip Phillips mentioned in Marion Co., SC?

I would truly appreciate any assistance in finding children, wife, parents, stories, or anything else that one would be willing to share with me about Philip of Marion. I would be happy to share the information on William and Elizabeth Phillips Lewis that I have if anyone would care for it.

Any information would be appreciated...even if it only helps me eliminate Phillips from my search. And if I can be of any help to any of ya'll in any way, please let me know. Thank you for any aid that ya'll can give on this family. Dianne Moore

I have three Gores in my family file.

A father Albert Gore (married to Charolett Unknown) whose child was Sarah Gore, born 1760 in Horry Co, SC, married in 1789 to David Hucks and who died in 1835. Their children were: William Albert Hucks b1790, David K. Hucks b1792, Sarah Hucks b1794, Mary Hucks b1796, Joseph Hucks b1798, and Charlotte Hucks b1800. David Hucks's line goes back to England in 1550. I am particularly interested in any information about this line of the Hucks family since I believe it is what began the Hucks (Hux) name in the United States. There is also a recent marriage into the Gore family by Earlean Hucks born September 30, 1932 in Galivant Ferry, SC, who married Garden Gore (no information past this generation). If anyone has these people in their family tree, please contact me. I would be happy to share my Family Tree Maker file with you or to mail printed family pages. Cynthia Hucks Smith Aceves

John DuRant (or Durant) was a settler in the eastern region of South Carolina (today known as Horry County) including the areas of Conway and Myrtle Beach. I understand that he lived somewhere around the early to mid 1700's in that area, and had strong ties to the Methodist Episcopal Church and some significant land holdings. The furthest clear record I have back through my lineage is to Bethel Durant, who lived between the 1780's and the 1830's in Conway, S.C.. I'm not certain of his father's name, but I believe his grandfather was John Durant. Any one that can verify Bethel Durant lineage to John Durant please contact John Durant.

    Subject: Jordans

I was told to ask you about the Jordans of Horry County. They said that you had done much research on them. My gg grandfather was William Perry Jordan b abt 1821 in Horry County and he married Frances Altman. Wm P's
brothers were James Perry Jordan, Benjamin H (BH) Jordan, and Thomas who married Frances Altman Jordan's sister Mary Ann Altman. I have heard that the Jordan's father was William and also have heard Thomas. It's
possible that it could be both-William Thomas but this hasn't been confirmed. I have also heard that William, Adam and Adam Jr. were some of their grandfathers. This is the part-I need to know if they were and if this was the order they went-William-Adam-Adam Jr-Thomas-William Thomas?-and then William Perry. If you could tell me how I might find
out for sure. Any help you could give me would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance. Bonnie Jordan Hucks

    Subject: HICKMAN and FLOYD

I am looking for information concerning the HICKMAN and FLOYD families
of Horry County South Carolina. My grandmother was Flarry/Florry/Flora
Henrietta HICKMAN b. 10/23/1882 Pireway, located in neighboring Columbus
Cty., North Carolina. Her parents were Henry David HICKMAN (b. 1859)
and Rose/Rosa Ann JOHNSON/JOHNSTON. They are listed in the 1880 census
of Horry County-Dog Bluff Twnshp, (Henry and Rose each giving their age
as 20 and Elisa Johnson giving her age as 40), along with Henry's
brother, Samuel Edward HICKMAN (age 22 in 1880). Rose Ann's parents
were an unknown JOHNSON/JOHNSTON and a Lisa/Elisa Caraline FLOYD. Henry
David HICKMAN's parents were Harmon HICKMAN and Ann or Mary BENTON.
Believe Harmon's father to be Samuel HICKMAN - there are two that appear
in the 1800 census for Horry County - one of which served as a
Revolutionary War Soldier from Horry County (although he was probably
from neighboring Brunswick or Columbus County, NC).

I'm looking for some further information on my Great-Great
Grandfather. His name is Isaac Newell Wilson, born September 30, 1853 and
died October 10, 1933. He is the son of Isaac Newell Wilson born June 20,
    1825 and died January 21, 1905. Isaac's (1853) mother was Julia Elizabeth
Jackson. I have information that Isaac (1853) is buried in Horry county.
The directions I have are as follows:
"Church near Yauhannah Ferry, Horry county on Georgtown Conway Road. (approx.
11/2 miles north of Pee Dee River"). I guess my question is, does anyone have
any information on this cemetary? Does it have a name? Has there been a book
compiled with the names of persons buried in this cemetary? I sure would like
to verify if this is where he is located. Also, he had 3 wives. 1. Mary
    Louisa Forte b. July 18, 1855 d. july 27, 1906. 2. Ellen Roberts Wilson (no
dates) 3. Mary Ann Lawrimore (no dates). I have already verified that his
parents Isaac (1825) and Julia are buried in a Wilson Cemetery off Hwy. 45 in
Berkeley Co. in Honey Hill. Any information that you might have concerning
the Wilson family would be most appreciated. Or, if you have any questions,
