NICHOLS/COCHRAN/ POOL
- I am searching for the parents of Joshua NICHOLS m. Elizabeth
COCHRAN, Isaac NICHOLS m. Chania COCHRAN and Jacob NICHOLS. These men served
in Lt. Col. Adam McWillie's 2nd Regmt. of SC militia, War of 1812. After
1820, both Joshua, and Isaac moved to Bedford Co. TN, where they lived
for several years. Between 1840 & 1850, they & families moved to
Marion Co. AL, where in 1855 Joshua and Isaac's widow, Chania, recieved
bounty land. Joshua's military papers state his place of rendezvous after
discharge was Salem Co. SC. I believe, Salem Co., which is no longer in
existence, was in the area where Lee Co. is now located. Jacob's application
for bounty land, filed in Kershaw Dist. SC, 1855, states he was drafted
in Bishopville. The 1810 census of Salem Co. list two NICHOLSes as heads
of households: William and Jacob. I believe they were William NICHOLS,
a Rev.War soldier, Anson Co. NC, m. Martha POOL and Jacob NICHOLS who may
have m. Catherine, last name unknown. The 1820 census of Sumter Co. lists
5 Nicholses as headof housholds: William, Cath, Joshua, Stephen, Isaac.
Willing to share data.

DuBOSE-
Searching for any information on the family of Richard A. DUBOSE b. @1809
and wife Elizabeth b. @1824. Family appears on Clarendon 1850 and 1860
census. Father, Richard(age 61) and one son Henry (age 19) on Swimming
Pens Census in 1870 (which was in Sumter Co. now in Lee Co.). Rest of family
seems to have disappeared from census records in 1870. The only family
member that I am able to find after 1860 census is my gg grandfather, Sinkler
DesChamps DUBOSE (one of the sons) as an adult on the 1880, 1900, 1910,
and 1920 Clarendon Census. The children with Richard and Elizabeth DUBOSE
on earlier census records were Angelina b. @1854, John W. b. @1856, Joseph
C. b. @1848, Henry W. b. c 1852, Pinkney R. b. @ 1854, Sinkler D. b. July

WILDS / BROCKINGTON / LIDE
/ PLEDGER- I am collecting information on the ancestors and
descendants of African American slaves and former slaves of the WILDS family
of Darlington County, and would like to share information with anyone interested.
Samuel Hugh WILDS owned about 150 slaves in 1860 and his uncle Peter Abel
WILDS owned about 90. Some of them used the surname WILDS, while others
took other names, including BROCKINGTON. I can trace many families to 16
slaves owned by Samuel WILDS in 1803, with some lines extending back to
the 1770s.
Any African-AmericanWILDS family of Darlington,
Marlboro, Florence and probably Lee and Sumter Counties seems to be connected
to these families. Also, I have some information on BROCKINGTON families,
descendants of slaves of Richard and Mary BROCKINGTON (she died in 1853),
and on slaves owned by Peter Abel WILDS father-in-law, John TERRIL, and
his grandfather Philip PLEDGER.
Also, beginning to collect information on
descendants of slaves of Robert LIDE (d. 1803), father-in-law of Nancy
Lide Wilds, wife of Samuel (d. 1803). Will be glad to share all.
I am Samuel Hugh Wilds' great great grandson.
Have much data on early white Wilds in Wales, Delaware and SC. Please e-mail
to Scottwilds@aol.com, or snail mail to Scott Wilds, 1010 S. 45th St.,
Philadelphia, PA 19104.

BOYKIN /BELVIN/FLOYD-
I am searching for any information
on my g-grandfather, John Fletcher BOYKIN and his wife Eliza McDuffie BELVIN.
They are buried in the cemetery of the Salem Southern Methodist Church
in Lee County, SC. Their children are:Claude Belvin BOYKIN 1900-1920 m
Selma Eunice FLOYD (my grandfather); Carlisle F. BOYKIN 1899-1968 m. Anne
Ollie ___; Ena E.BOYKIN; Nita BOYKIN; Ina McDuffie BOYKIN 1903-1903; and
Heyward E. BOYKIN 1909-1910. The children grew up in Camden, SC. Any help
is appreciated, including leads/books to look in. Many of the BOYKINS (of
Civil War fame) mentioned in the books I've checked so far are seemingly
unrelated to mine, despite the fact that they lived in the same area and
have the same name! Somewhere, there must be an offshoot of this group
that leads to mine.
