Orangeburgh District 1850

Orangeburgh District 1850 Census Abstract

This is a partial abstract of the 1850 Orangeburgh census. I hope to eventually get all of it on line, but I thought it would be better to have part of it than none of it.

Unless it shows otherwise in the notes, the people listed are white and born in South Carolina. I did not list all the occupations--only those who listed something other than planter or farmer. The notes are either something out of the ordinary listed in the census, or in some cases, notes from my own research. If you have information about any of the people, I'd be glad to add your notes as well. Just e-mail me with the information, but please include your full name and how to reach you, so that anyone with questions can be put in touch with you.

I am a census taker for the city of Bufflow. Our city has groan very fast in resent years and now in 1865, it has become a hard and time consuming job to count all the peephill. There is not many that can do this work, as it is necessarie to have an ejucashun, wich a lot of person still do not have.
