THE SCGENWEB PROJECT |
In March and April, 1996, a group of
genealogists organized the Kentucky Comprehensive Genealogy Database.
The idea was to provide a single entry point for all counties in
Kentucky, where collected databases would be stored.
In addition, the databases would be indexed and cross-linked, so that
even if an individual were found in more than one county, they could
be located in the index. At the same time, volunteers were found who
were willing to coordinate the collection of databases and generally
oversee the contents of the web page.
The SCGenWeb Project is an extension of that KYGenWeb
Project.

HISTORY |
Saluda County is located in the Northwestern part of South Carolina in what was known as Old 96 District prior to 1785 when Old 96 was split into five counties. Saluda County was not established until 1896 when Edgefield County (one of the original five counties) was divided further. Saluda County (with it's county seat of Saluda) is surrounded by five counties: Aiken, Edgefield, Greenwood, Lexington, and Newberry. The South Carolina map, above, illustrates the location of Saluda County (dark red) and it's surrounding counties (shown in peach).
Awaiting future research and visitor participation.
