I am researching my wife's family from Fife and would like to hear from anyone with knowledge of her family names: THOMSON, LINDSAY, MCLEAN, CREE, SYME.

The marriage of James THOMSON to Isabella SYME, May 7, 1820 is the earliest verified date for this line. Their son, James THOMSON, was christened in the Parish of Cupar the same date., indicating the possibility of a previous marriage unsanctioned by the Church of Cupar. Only a son and daughter followed in the records, but David THOMSON married to Isabella CREE in St. Margaret's Church of Dunfermline claimed James and Isabella as his parents. David was 34 when he married, Jan 1, 1867. David THOMSON and James THOMSON were blacksmiths, likely connected to the coal mines. One of David's sons, John THOMSON, married Ann LINDSAY in Dunfermline, Nov 4, 1892. This was my wife's grandfather.
