Dr. Grace Waldrop Batson Wednesday, March 4, 1998
MICHAEL WARDROPER.. Seeking birthplace, parents and/or siblings of this Michael WARDROPER born about 1645 in Scotland, supposedly somewhere in Fife County. A record in Cavaliers and Pioneers shows a William Claibourne who came with 11 persons including Micha.Wardrope, to America, where they landed in Virginina. Michael WARDROPER obtained land in New Kent County, married and had children. We have been able to research at least some of the descendants of this Michael WARDROPE to my father, Owen Alvin WALDROP. (The name changed on records from WARDROPER to Waldrope in the 1700's.) Supposedly Michael WARDROPER left for America from Edinburgh, but came from Fife to take a boat in Edinburgh. The name WARDROPE/WARDROPER supposedly came from "keeper of the king's wardrobe", which is a sept that belongs to the Clan MacDuff. (Again in and around the county of Fife.). Would appreciate any help or directions in helping me find my Scottish connection, and would be happy to exchange info with anyone looking for Wardrops/Waldrops in America.
