Kinross-shire FreeCEN Project

Welcome to the Kinross-shire Free Census Project. This project is dedicated to transcribing the 19th century census returns for the Kinross-shire parishes, and making these transcriptions freely available online as part of the UK Free Census Project (FreeCEN).

1841 — online

The 1841 Census for Kinross-shire is already online. Our thanks go to former County Coordinator, Gillian Arnot-Smith, and her team of volunteers.

Work is beginning on the 1851 Census for Kinross-shire. The table below will chart the progress of the transcription.

Volunteers are needed now to transcribe the record for the county. Previous transcribers and checkers for Kinross-shire would be very welcome! Please get in touch with me, .
