THOMAS, Charles William
Charles William THOMAS was my great-grandfather. He was born I believe in the Union County area in 1869 to Samuel Edward THOMAS and Narcissa Helen LITTLEJOHN. In 1893 he was living in Chicota Texas and married a distant relative Frozena LITTLEJOHN. My grandfather Charles Edward THOMAS (aka Thomas Edward LITTLEJOHN) was born to them in 1895. They were later divorced; Frozena died and my grandfather was raised by his grandfather Richard Berry LITTLEJOHN in Texas. To my knowledge, the father and son never saw each other again. We have one picture of Charles William THOMAS as an elderly man, sent to the family by a cousin. It would make my mother happy to know what became of her grandfather; and if he has any living relatives. Does anyone know of this man or family?

THOM(P)SON, James
I'm trying to find any information on my GGGGgrandfather JAMES THOM(P)SON who is reported to have left Ireland with his wife (looking for a name here) in 1776, landing in NYC and travelling overland to settle in Union Dist./Co. I believe I MAY have found him as James THOMSON in the 1790 census which indicated there was one other male over 16 in the household, 2 males under 16 yrs. and a total of 5 females. I only know the name of one of the children, my GGGgrandfather William. William (and possibly James) left Union for the Pendleton District in the 1790's or early 1800's. I do not find them in the 1810 census for Union. William married (???) and had a son Charles who was born (and died) on/near the family property which I understand was on 12 Mile Creek abt. 8 miles north of Pendleton Village. Charles married Mahala GAINES. Their son Rev.George McDuffie Thompson was a Methodist minister born in the 1840s, who moved to Lamar Cty. Texas area in late 1880. George's brother Col. Robert Anderson Thompson was owner of the Keowee Courier for abt. 45 years and before that owned the Pendleton Messenger for abt. 3 years after the Civil War. I believe Robert ultimately moved to Oconee Co. I'm at a virtual dead end here with James and William. Other family surnames stemming from the GAINES family relationship are PENDLETON (from VA), FEATHERSTONE, MAYO, GEORGE, TAYLOR, GREGORY and BISHOP. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
