These pages contain the complete, "History of the City of Scranton; Providence, Dunmore, Waverly and Humphreysville with Authentic Accounts of the Origin and Present Condition of the Various Railroads, Coal, Iron, and Manufacturing Companies, Churches, Schools, Societies, etc., Etc., of the Places Above Named. Also, Directory & Business Advertisers, for 1867 and 1868." Compiled and Published by Andrew B. Galatian. Printed and Bound at the "Republican" Office, Scranton, PA, 1867.
No pages have been left out. On a few pages you will see hand written corrections and additions. These were in the book. The previous owner lived in Scranton so this might be useful information.
The directory is well alphabetized, BUT occasionally an entry will be added to the end of a page or section out of sequence. These are always within the correct first letter of the surname. Also, the business directory listings are not always logically arranged. For example, Axe businesses are under Manufacturing, and the Physicians are at the end.
NAVIGATION: The work is divided into sections for quicker page loading. The first page of each section contains thumbnail images of each directory page. When a thumbnail is clicked a page is loaded containing the full size image. By clicking on the full size image, the next full size image page will be loaded. The last full size image in a section is connected to the first full size image page of the next section. Thus the whole directory can be navigated by clicking the full size images, or by following a link back to the section thumbnail page and/or back to this page.
