John Barker of Indian Fields
B. ca 1630. Died between 10 Aug. 1678 & 4 April 1679 in Charles
City VA (Barker/Harrison Deed; Jethro Barker Guardianship Petition 4 Apr.
1679 Charles City Co. Order Book 1676-79 page 376, abstracted in Ayers.

if Jethro 's father were alive he would not have had a male guardian appointed
him.}

[Sr/Jr. Deed {establishes that Ann was stepmother of John of Indian
Fields' eldest son John. Jethroe Barker guardianship Petition {estalishes
that Ann was also Jethro's stepmother}; Ann . Deed {states Ann married
to George Marshell on March 9 1672/3, when he made his will; also establishes
that she married to Barker as of the deed's making}
These documents establish that Ann was stepmother to John of Indian
Fields two older sons,John and Jethro. As explained below, the youngest
son Joel proberly turned 21 around January of 1690, which places his birth
ca 1669. Thus since Ann married John of INdian Fields between 9 March 1672/3
and Sept 1673, she was the stepmother to all his children. Thus, their
mother, weather she be Letitia or someone else, had died by the latter
date John Barker (JR) Deeds involving (John JR was proberly of age when
he was party to these deeds).
D between 9 October 1713 & May 19 1714. in Surry Co. Va.
(Will of John Barker JR, made 9 Oct. 1713 probated 19 May 1714. Surry
Co. Va. Book 6 page 191.
Joel Barker
B.ca 1669
Barker v Good {Joel sued his stepfather for bequest suggesting
that Joel just became of age, for there would be no reason to wait so long
after his father's death to make this claim.
D after January 1690.
This and more was done by William Carrell of Louisville Ky. (Lawyer),
with the help of a fine genealogist and registar of the Jamestowne Society.
William has been working on the Barkers of Virginia for many years, and
I think he has done very good work.
