John R. Shurley, -Died at his residence in Ebenezer, York District, S. C. on the 15th of March, 1863, in the 47th year of his age. . .left wife and five children, an aged mother and brothers and sisters. . . Confederate Baptist, May 6, 1863.)
Johnnie, son of Lieut. W. L. and Mrs. L. V. Robertson, -Died, at Rock Hill, October 20, 1863, aged 1 year, 1 month and 26 days. (Confederate Baptist, November 25, 1863.)
Mrs. N. C. , wife of Solomon Harris, -[Died] In Fort Mill, S. C., aged 51 years, one month and 26 days. She was an affectionate wife, a kind mother and a most excellent neighbor, and had been a consistent member of the Methodist Church for twenty-five years. She leaves a husband and four sons, with many friends to mourn her loss. (Southern Home, Charlotte, N.C., May 2, 1876.)
John James Poag -20 March 1877, married, in Yorkville, and Miss Mary Wylie, daughter of Samuel Wylie of York Co. (Southern Home, Charlotte, N. C., April 23, 1877.)
Col. L. P. Sadler, prominent citizen of Yorkville, died June 2, age 59. He was colonel of the Western Regiment of Militia and later York County tax collector. Once in the mercantile business at Yorkville. In the CSA, he was Capt. of 17th S.C. Regt. for about one year. Ill health forced his retirement. (Southern Home, Charlotte, N. C. June 18, 1877.)
