I am looking for any info on John G. STONE (b.approx. 1842 in Ohio). According to the 1880 census he was a farmer in Brookings County. He was married to Carrie SMITH (b. approx. 1846 in Wisconsin). They had 5 children, Nellie (b. approx. 1869 Wisconsin), Arthur (b. approx. 1872 Iowa), my grandfather Albert (b. 20 Aug 1874 South Dakota), Harry (b. 1877 South Dakota) and Mary (b.1879 South Dakota).
Would like to know if there was a poor farm/nursing home located in the county in about 1933? Would like to have location and name. Does it still exist? Does anyone know where the records from the poor farm for about 1933 would be located? I am researching surname CROSSEN/CROSSING. Thanks!

I'm looking for information on and descendants of Gertie (NELSON) WAGNER. She was born Oct. 3, 1898 in Woodbury Co, Iowa. She married Anton Wagner in 1916 in Correctionville, Iowa. She later married his brother Morris. They lived in Brookings. She died there in 1972. At that time four of her children were still living in Brookings: Dale, Verle, a Mrs. Thomas Moulton, and a Mrs. Alven Biggar.
