My grandfather, Bernhard Wilhelm KLEEN, b. January 31, 1887 in Logabirumerfeld, Ostfriesland, Germany, settled in or near Bruce, Brookings Co., SD about 1911. He married there Martha Eva KAMM (changed from KAMINSKI) and their young family moved to Minnesota sometime between 1927 and 1930. I'm wondering why he chose the Bruce area to settle in, specifically, whether any other family member had preceded him there. Was there a settlement of Germans from East Frisia (Ostfriesland) there?
