I know that my grandfather, Niels LASSEN NIELSEN - or Niels LARSEN NIELSEN - or Niels LASSEN immigrated from Vrensted in Denmark in 1908 to Volga, SD. He managed either a saloon, restaurant or a bar in Volga. He went back to Denmark in 1910-1911. The only documentation I have is a portrait of him. The photograph is marked with the name JARVIS, Brookings SD. I am looking for any information on Niels LASSEN in Brookings SD.

Herman WAGNER (born 1852) occupied SW 1/4-23-110N-52W-5 (year 1883 on BLM). Wife Augusta LINKE (born 1862). They had a son John (born 09/02/1891) while in Brookings County. They went to Alberta Canada for a few years, returning to SD where Herman died, I think late 1930 or early 1931. Augusta moved back to Alberta where she died in 1944. Their son John remained in SD and died there sometime in the 1940's, I believe. John LINKE shows up on the BLM list (year 1896) on section 24 adjacent to Herman's quarter above. I'm very suspicious that he is the father of Augusta LINKE. I would really like to make this connection, if there is one to be made.
