This is in reference to Anna Maria Pohl (Pol') listed in the GEDCOM Full Text Search Results for Campbell County South Dakota Databases. File: Kolb genealogy - GEDCOM listing. Anna Maria Pohl is listed as being born around 1757. Is this an error? All others listed are born in the 1800's and 1900's. If Anna Maria Pohl's birth date is actually 1857 then I believe this is my mother-in-law's great grandmother.

Would anyone be willing to share pictures with me of Helge ENGEBRETSON or Haldis ENGEBRETSON. These are my g-g grandparents. Or, pictures of Betsy JENSON or John JENSON, my g-grandparents. Does anyone have access to the book of Campbell County Obituaries and if so would you be willing to let me know what the obituary says? I recently found a name that I think may be the family I am searching for in the online index for this book. The name in the index is Ole LILLEVEND who died on 07 February 1890 at the age of 73. The family I am researching is OLE and Mari ENGEBRETSEN (LILLESVEN) who immigrated from Norway in 1883. In the 1895 (Grand Crossing school) census of Campbell County I found a daughter, Johanna MOE (in Rugby, North Dakota by 1920 and 1930 census) and Nels LILLESVEN. I think OLE and MARI probably died and are buried in Campbell County. If anyone knows something about this family, I sure would enjoy hearing from you. Thank you. --------------------------------------------------

Roar Holmedal (rholmed@online.no) Tue Mar 1 09:03:18 2005
My name is Roar HOLMEDAL from Norway. My wife's great grandfather was born and lived all his life at a small Norwegian mountain farm called Rorgo, near Voss. His brother, Knut RORGO (1834-28 Apr 1920), however, emigrated to America (1857). At first he lived in Iowa, but in 1885 he settled down near Mobridge, Campbell County, S.Dakota. His wife was Margareta Helgesdtr. LUND, from Voss. I have a copy of an article from some American newspaper, dated 1938. The author was Randall HOBART. The article is about four brothers, Knut RORGO's sons. Their names are Ole (1860-1944), Helge(31 Mar 1862-13 Jan 1942), Jakob(Jake)(20 Jan 1873-21. Mar 1960), and Knut 20 Oct 1974-1950). I hope these dates are correct. Is it possible to identify descendants of these people? If any of them should be interested, I have photos of this remote mountain farm with buildings dated from 17something to 1880. First ancestor to settle down at Rorgo was Ivar TORKELSON, late 1600. Knut RORGO's sister, Anna b.1840, also emigrated to America (1866). She was married to Sjur Olson BREKKE, b. 1838. He was a farmer in Twin Valley, Minnesota. Their oldest sister, Brita b. 1823, also emigrated to America in 1857, but I don't know anything about her. With kind regards Roar Holmedal, --------------------------------------------------

FRIDRICH BECHTOLD I am looking for any information on FRIDRICH BECHTOLD, who was born in NIKOLAIO on April 16, 1884. His wife was Katharina (VOGEL). They came by ship on the Wilhelme Des Grosse to Quebec city, then by rail to Detoit Michigan on Oct. 25, 1907. My father John was born Nov. 8, 1907 in Millbank, S.D. They arrived at Selby on June 15, 1908 and signed a Declaration of Intent. I then believed they went to Mound City, and from there they must have ended up in Velva, N.D. where another son Fred was born. The only things that I have to try and trace my Grandparents family are 3 pictures. I have a picture of a man with a mustache and a woman standing, a little girl is sitting in front of the man, and a little boy sitting in front of the woman. This picture was taken in Lemmon, S.D. I have a picture of 3 young men, who may be brothers, 2 are standing, and one is sitting with his leg crossed, and this was taken at JJ HOCHHALER Studio in Zeeland, N.D. I have another picture of 2 men standing, with one having his hand on the others shoulder, and this was taken at Stanton studio in Springfield, Ohio. My grandparents eventually ended up in Moose Jaw, Sask. where in the 1926 census book a James Bechtold was living with them. I am hoping that someone out there may have the same pictures. According to some aunts and uncles grandpa may have family in South and North Dakota, Montanna, Wyoming and possibly Minnesota. Thank you for reading my letter

We believe they lived and are buried in or near Eureka, SD. We think they were members of a Seventh Day Adventist Church. Also we are looking for info on two of their sons, named Henry and John HOFFMAN. As far as we know the sons lived with their parents. Henry passed away in the late 50's or early 60's we think. He may be buried at a town named Artas. Any info that we get we be very much appreciated. Thank you.
