Codington County ANDERSON Anderson/Andreasson Family: of Augumentsgården,
Magra parish, Älvsborg Län, Sweden. The parents were: Andreas
Svensson, born November 27, 1803 in Melby, married to Annika Larsdotter,
born November 5, 1810 in Magra. Their children are: Anders Andreasson,
born May 20, 1830 in Magra-no sign of him Maja Andreasdotter, born June
29, 1832 in Magra married 1855 to Johannes Jonsson born 1829 with children:
Anders, born 1856, Gustaf, born 1858, Anna Greta, born 1861, and Christina,
born 1864-this family took over Augumentsgården after Andreas Svensson.
Anders Andreasson, born January 12, 1836 in Magra married 1866 to Inga
Kasin Håkonsdotter Kronn, born July 25, 1843 in Skarstad with children:
Augusta, born March 27, 1867, Anna Greta, born January 31, 1869, Carl Herman,
born December 31, 1870, Johan Albin, born march 21, 1873, Fritz Theodor,
born March 11, 1875, Johanna Sofia, born June 7, 1877, Elin Kristina, born
August 22, 1880, and Naëmi Emma, born May 19, 1882, all born in Skarstad.
A son Calmar shows up in South Star, SK. Canada in 1903, likely born after
the family emigrated to America May 15, 1885- the oldest daughter, Augusta
had emigrated in 1884- Their destination in America is a mystery, I suspect
Minnesota. Anders, his wife, Inga, the daughter Emma Naëmi, and Calmar
move to Star City (South Star district), Saskatchewan in 1903 homesteading.
The parents end their lives there..Emma married Olaf Erickson and they
lived their lives there with their own descendants, which I have record
of. The Lac qui Parle Historical society had an enquiry about Andersons
from some people from Watertown, SD, so perhaps that is where some of the
missing Andersons went to. Any info would be much appreciated. Thank you
in advance.

I am seeking information on an H.M. LOVEJOY, who resided with Dr. PRITCHARD,

I am looking for information on Major DEMOREST. I have a photograph
of him and it is stamped Codington County, Watertown, SD. His daughter
Genevieve DEMOREST JOSEPHSON was a resident of Sioux Falls SD from 1913-1963.
I would like to know more about the Major. Genevieve was born in 1883,
so I assume that the Major was born in the early to mid 1800's. I do not
know if his given name was Major or if it was a title. The Major is wearing
the following pins in the photograph: In the knot of his tie, what appears
to be two bugles crossed, horn parts pointing down. A round pin with a
dark center. A 5-point star on a bar. A rectangle pin or patch with wings
on it. An old-style cross, appears to have 4 inverted triangles coming
from a solid center. --------------------------------------------------

I am seeking information on James and Katherine FARLEY who moved to
Henry, SD sometime in the latter 1800's. Katherine's maiden name was either
STANTON or SANTON. James FARLEY died 8 Jan 1905. Katherine, I don't know.
James is buried somewhere in SD, Henry, I presume. They were both born
in Ireland and came to the US sometime around 1848, settling for at least
a time in Newton, IA (my great grandfather Thomas FARLEY was born there
in 1877). I don't know if they were married in Ireland or in the US. I
also don't know if any of the family stayed in the area. They were Catholic
if that helps any. I am looking for a place of burial, any obituary that
might have been written and/or any other type of information relating to
where in Ireland they are from and who parents were. Any help would be

I am looking for information on the DEVRIES families, WAGNER families
and MILLER families in the area. My great-grandfather immigrated to Codington
County in 1906. His name was EDWARD DeVries. I have an uncle in Watertown
of the same name and an Aunt (Mary) of South Shore. My Father was Francis
DEVRIES and my grandfather was Leo DEVRIES. His father, Edward, immigrated
to the US in 1906 from Holland or Luxembourg. I know that he had brothers
Andrew and Lorenz and a sister Hedska who did not come over to the US.
I know his name was drawn by lottery to come to the US instead of going
into military service. He married Mary KRIER of Appleby and they had 4
children, Laurence, Clara, Leo (my grandfather) and Marie DEVRIES JANKORD.
My great aunt Marie still lives in Kranzburg and attends Holy Rosary Catholic
Church. I do not know any more about the KRIER's and would like more information.
My grandmother was Helen Ann (Hazel) WAGNER. She was the daughter of Ben
(1879-1963) and clara MILLER WAGNER. My grandmother was their only child
as Clara died in 1929. His father was John Peter WAGNER. His mother was
Maria Margareta SUTTOR wagner. This family immigrated from Christnach LUXEMBOURG
in 1883. They had 15 children. One of their son's, Henry Adam WAGNER, was
mayor of Watertown in the early 1900's. I know Maria Margareta was also
a midwife to many in the area. Any information from anyone would be much
appreciated. I also have a bit more information about the families after
their arrival in the US, but none before.

EXNER, Henry William from Huttendorf ,Northern Bohemia is my paternal
Grandfather, settled iin Louisiana.. other EXNERS relatives settled iin
New York.. do we fit into this family: Kathy Schenck
THEODORE CHESTER HALLSTEAD, b. Dec. 18, 1867. I have a picture of him
as a baby taken at Elite Studio, Watertown, SD. He is being held by a lady
identified only as Mrs. Weaver. His nickname was "Dode". Theodore had two
brothers that I know of. Charles Hallstead, b. 1859, and James. He also
had half brothers whose last name was Scott. His father was born in Pennsylvania,
mother born in Illinois per the 1920census. The 1920 Census gives his birthplace
as Iowa. It also lists his home as Minnesota, where he died in 1922. He
was a farmer who moved to Minnesota around 1910. Probably from South Dakota.
He married ANGELINE HAMM and they had three sons, Clarence, b. Aug 12,1895
in Minnesota; Frank; and Donald Harry who was born in South Dakota on June
15, 1889. THEODORE had one son, Lyle, by his second wife, Ella Pettz. Lyle
was born in 1915 in Minnesota. Donald wrote to his mother, Angeline Hallstead,
in Hopkins, MO in 1916 which leads me to question if Angeline Hamm and
Theodore were divorced or separated.Theodore C. Hallstead filed a land
patent in Codington County on 12/31/1904. Meridian 05, Township 117N, Range
054W, Section 004, Acreage 47, Type 251101 (homestead) Case type PA, DOCID
12383.I am looking on information on Theodore's birthplace and parents.
JAMES C. COFFIN. I am looking for someone that would be willing to
go to the public library or genealogy society in Watertown and get a copy
of his obituary for me. James died in Watertown, Codington county on 01-21-
1938. His obituary would probably have been in the Watertown Public Opinion.
I don't know much about my great-grandfather, so I am hoping his obituary
will shed some light. Thank you.
Hi, my name is Karla Schmitt and I am looking for any information about
my great- grandmother and father; William A. SCHMITT(June 1860) and Anna
(MARX)SCHMITT(Sept. 13, 1866). I just found their names in the 1900 Census
in Kranzburg township,Codington County SD but otherwise I have little info.
on them They had at least 7 children Frank (April,1895), John (Dec 1896),
Nicholas (Feb 1898), Anton (April 1899), Albert (1901) and Elizabeth Rose
and lastly one who had died by the time the 1900 census was taken. William's
sister was also living with them, her name was Emma Schmitt (March 1846).
If any knows anything about the SCHMITT or MARX families Please let me
know. I have been running into a lot of deadend lately. Anna MARX may have
resided in this area earlier in her life with her family of origin??? So
any information on the last name MARX would also be appreciated. Lastly
my uncle, Gordan Charles SCHMITT, was buried in a family plot in Waverly
S.D. Does anyone know the name of a Catholic Cemetary in Waverly?? Thanks!!!!
Sincerely, Karla Schmitt

*SALVATION ARMY IN WATERTOWN* My grandfather and grandmother, P.Carl
and Lillian ELLIS did work for the Salvation Army in Watertown in 1914.
In fact one of their sons, Edwin M. ELLIS was born there. Does anyone have
any photos or stories about the Salvation Army in this town? Grandpa and
Grandma moved about every year or two, so the time frame would be close
to the 1914 I mentioned. My father, Jerome ELLIS would have been two years
or so when they lived there. --------------------------------------------------
