An Ole and Lena story from Father Pearson

Father Jim Pearson of Christ Episcopal Church in Chamberlain  told us a  wonderful story last Sunday and I hope he isn't offended if I take liberty  to "spread the word," if you will ...  It really does bear repeating.

Seems Ole had been told he was terminally ill and had only a week or so to live. The time had come for him to take to his bed and he was down to his last hours when he smelled the wonderful aroma of lefsa filling the room.

He mustered up all of his strength, pulled himself up from his bed and made his way to the kitchen. "Oh my Darling Lena," he said, "even in in my  last hour you make for me my favorite lefse," as he reaches for a piece.

Lena immediately reaches over and slaps his hand and says, "Ole, stay out of that ... it's for the funeral!"
