CARNIVAL KING AND QUEEN

         Back row, left to right: Mary Bowar, Peggy Murphy, Delora Fields;
         Front row, left to right: Francis Reuer, Crownbearer, Dick Black, Helen Hamiel, Mona Kay Murphy, Crownbearer.

One of the honors coveted by each girl in RHS is to be selected a candidate for the Carnival Queen.

On October 28, Homecoming Day at RHS this year, Mary Bowar represented the Senior class;
Helen Hamiel, Juniors; Delora Fields, Sophomores; Peggy Murphy, Freshmen. During the evening the contest was
very spirited and the crowd gathered in the assembly were anxiously waiting to find out who had been the
successful one. To the accompaniment of appropriate music, played by Mrs. Moeckel, the group marched to
the stage preceded by the Crown Bearers. Dick Black, who had been elected Carnival King by a popular vote of
the student body, announced that Helen Hamiel was the Queen.

This is the first year that Reliance High has had Mixed Chorus for a number of years. This activity is under the
direction of Mrs. Moeckel. The group consists of seven boys and all the girls in the Glee Club. We have sung at
our annual Homecoming, Junior Play and various other occasions.

With Glee Club under the supervision of Mrs. Moeckel we all feel we have made a decided advancement.
The Glee Club has had the pleasure of singing for a teachers meeting in Kennebec, our annual Homecoming and
various other  activities.

With the making of our annual we started looking for someone to draw the Longhorn for our title page. After
having several students draw pictures, they were shown to the members of the  staff and the best one selected.
The one drawn by Carol Fletcher is shown on our title page.
