My mom , Hazel EGEDIUSEN,(deceased) was born in Genena (can't read the town very well on her birth certificate. Her Place of registry shows 36518 with
registered No. 839. It was filed November
17, 1908. She was born October
24, 1908 (however her b/c shows 10/29/08. Her father was Hans
EGEDIUSEN and her mom was Jensine Boye
EGEDIUSEN. It is difficult to read the mom's maiden name whether it is Boye or Boyer. We (remaining family) have tried and tried
to get the correct spelling to do more geneaology on
the family. Can you help? My mom was the 5th child born to this family. They
eventually moved to Minnesota. I kindof think Mr. EGEDIUSEN was killed in a car accident in SD..Mom was born in 1908 and the
car wreck was , I don't know when..I
will try to get more on that..the
main thing I need IS does anyone remember EGEDIUSEN and can anyone tell me the
correct spelling of Boye' or Boyer??

Have verified that John C. Holback who lived in Flaundreau, Moody County, SD who died Feb.6, 1973 is definately my husbands paternal grandfather who abandoned
two sons left Sioux City, Iowa after their Mother, John's first wife died in
1918. In 1920 he is still living in Pkymouth
County, Iowa and is farming
(live stock dealer). An Earnest Nelson is living in the household with John and
is a hired man. In 1925 John Holback was living in a
boarding house in Sioux City, Iowa.
So he left Iowa for South
Dakota after 1925. What information is there about
him in the Moody County, SD Courthouse? Letters of
administration? Estate papers? Any information
would be greatly appreciated. Also he may have married his second wife, Emma C.
(maiden name unknown) in Moody County?
The couple lived at 312 Pipestone Avenue,
Flandeau, Moody Co., SD in
1930 as they appear in the Fed. Census records for that town, state. on the 1920 Fed. Census Schedule for Plymouth
County, Iowa, this same man is
listed as Earnest Nelson and is listed as John's Partner in farming. There may
have been a family connection between the two men as Arnie/Earnest
also came from Denmark.
But, this would be just guessing based on a preponderance of evidence at this
point in time. Nelson is the same as Son of Nels in Danish naming patterns.
Which could explain why John's second son, my late father in law was named
Nels. Danish naming patterns are sometimes confusing. Skroch Funeral Chapel was
listed as the Funeral Home. And John is buried in Union
Cemetery. The informat
for John's vital information was Mrs. Dolly Keehn,
more than likely a neighbor or friend who lived at 408
3rd Ave. West Flandreau, SD.
Since John abandoned his children we do not know if he may have been married to
two women at the same time or if he married Emma after Jane's death in 1918.
Any help in solving this family mystery is greatly appreciated by a curious
family. Thank you, Gloria Holback

I am seeking information about my grandfather lewellyn
allen HERRICK and his
siblings. Lewellyn was born in Chatfield,
Minnesota on October 5, 1880. His father was Ira A. HERRICK, born in Illinois.
Lewellyn had 5 brothers and 1 sister: william, edmund, roy, leon, adelbert and ethel.
My father,Edmund William
HERRICK, son of Lewellyn, was born on July 17, 1905 in Flandreau, Moody
County. My father had 1 elder sister,
Alta HERRICK Comp. ( I should add that Lewellyn married Roxie Ferguson HERRICK, who was born
October 25, 1885, in Vinton, Iowa. ) Lewellyn, Roxie,
my father and my aunt Alta moved to Stickney,S.D. in 1906. Lewellyn was a farmer and also delivered mail from a horse
drawn coach while living in the Stickney area. Later, he was town Marshal of Wagner,S.D. At age 16, I was told,
he was a Pony Express rider.I know little more about
him. I was a grown man when I learned that Lewellyn
had 6 siblings. I learned via the internet that there is an Allen Herrick
residing in Trent. S.D., very near Flandreau. My wife, sister and I will be in
S.D. about Sept. 10, 2003,
attempting to learn all we can of my father's family. Any information you can
pass on to us will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Jack.

I am seeking information on the ANDREAS THODE family who lived in Moody
County around the turn of the
century. Both were from the Island of
Fehmarn,
now a part of Schleswig Holstein, Germany. Anna
Dorothea Bossler THODE was born February 23, 1845 in Sahrensdorf,
Fehmarn. She died April 6, 1897 in Egan, SD. Andreas
THODE was born April 13, 1866 in Burg, Fehmarn and
died on January 26, 1915 in Egan,SD. They were
married on April 13, 1866
in Burg, Fehmarn. I have no information on whether or
not they had a family. Mrs.THODE was my grandmother's
aunt and I believe that my grandmother resided with this family when she
immigrated to this country. My paternal grandparents Kathryn and William HARMSEN, lived in Moody
County several years after their
marriage. I believe that three of their sons were born there, John, Anton and
Arnold. They were married March 15th,
1898 in Pipestone, MN. Both of my grandparents died in 1940 in LaMoure, ND.
If anyone has information on the surviving members of the THODE family I would
appreciate the information. --------------------------------------------------
