Keeping the Homes Fires Burning
Civil War in Southeast Kentucky
by Holly Timm

Keeping The Homefires Burning is a term paper I wrote in the spring of 1994 for an English course at Southeast Community College in Harlan County. The orginal draft was far in excess of the allowed length and I had to chop it to pieces, leaving out much local detail and restricting myself to generalities. This version is a restoration work in progress while I try to reconstruct what was chopped out. It is a lengthy file and will eventually be distributed over several pages... please be patient while it loads. Comments, additions, and corrections are not only welcome but encouraged. Please email me at htimm@comcast.net. I hope you enjoy it.
