John M & Eliza Sergent Ball
John M BALL was born 22 Feb 1824 on the upper part of Catrons Creek in Harlan County, Kentucky, son of James Samuel BALL and Susan Ann POPE. He died at Ages 14 May 1893 and is buried in the Ball Cemetary at Brookside. On 16 Apr 1847, he married Eliza SERGENT born 22 Aug 1827/9 at Ages and died 21 Oct 1896, daughter of Ephraim and Deborah BYRD SERGENT. Eliza is also buried in the Ball Cemetary at Brookside.

John and Eliza moved to Grayson, Hopkins County, Texas, with his parents about 1852. Their fourth child, Allen, was born there but they soon returned as the remianing children wre all born at Ages in Harlan County, Kentucky.
