Captain William Thomson 1727- 1778

- Carol Vulliamy

Captain William Thomson 1727- 1778

(2nd Great Grand Uncle from Dollie Howard nee Thompson)

The Captain was an important part of the wars in the Americas-

The Thomson men were Colonels, Majors, Generals- top Brass!

Generations of Thompson leaders fought for justice and order,

They were strong, professional achievers with disdain for disorder.

The Captain’s father was the “Gentleman of Blair Manor” in Scotland.

William’s unyielding Baptist beliefs made him take a strong stand.

Anabaptist pressure took a toll and off to Wales he chose to go.

Two years passed and the Americas promised him freedom to grow.

The Americas were the ‘land of opportunity.’ The Thompsons did well.

Acreage, William Thomson acquired- Cotton and tobacco, no hard sell-

Plantations were large with abundant profits; prosperous lives all agree.

Many slaves gathered; their needs attended to… the Thomson decree.

Twelve children created memories; each climbing the ladders of success

These Thomson families made history like the Thomson’s now at rest...

These people knew that success breeds success and loving God is cool-

Character, hard work and education provide families with the right tools.
