Lucie Parenteau

- Carol Vulliamy

Lucie Parenteau

Proud Dad was Jean BaptisteParenteau

France was home for generations long ago.

Pelagie, our Mom was politically astute

Uncle Gabriel David Dumont we all salute.

Conflict and stress are old feelings for us.

Furs and land are like sores oozing pus-

Deep wounds with poison certain to erupt

Corrupt power breeds fear and disrupt.

UncleIsidore Jr was killed at Duck Lake

The ’85 Rebellion was full of heart break.

Courage and tactical skill the Metis had

-Small numbers, little ammunition- so sad.

I’m a young Mom surrounded with death

Corruption must soon draw it’s last breath.

We are left with bits and pieces of life

How will we recover with damage so rife.
