The SBSGS is dedicated to helping our Members in their genealogical and family history research. Our purpose is to support the aims
and objectives of our parent organization, the Saskatchewan Genealogical Society (SGS); to promote the study of genealogy in Saskatoon
and area; and to encourage adherence to accuracy and thoroughness in genealogical research.
Welcome to our website!
We are the Saskatoon Branch of the Saskatchewan Genealogical Society (the "SBSGS" for short).
What a membership in the SBSGS can do for you:
Membership in the SBSGS includes a subscription to our
Branch newsletter, “The Armchair
Genealogist”, which is published 6 times per year.
We have a
Library with approximately 10,000 items.
We host
workshops, seminars,
and conferences, and frequently have
speakers on a wide variety of topics at our General Meetings.
We hold
Beginners classes once
or twice a year to help new Genealogists get a good start on their research.
We have “
Special Interest Groups” that can help you if
you have a particular area of interest.
Our Branch provides Members with access to the genealogical knowledge and experience of other
members, and the possibility of connecting with someone researching the same names and/or geographical areas as you.
We provide fellowship
and local support with your research. Included in membership with us are the benefits of membership in our parent organization, the
Saskatchewan Genealogical Society (SGS).
