John Reinger John Reinger was born in Minnesota. He homesteaded and farmed a few years in North Dakota. He sold his homestead, rented a box car and brought his horses, machinery and household equipment to Canada. A corner was boarded out in the box car and he and his brother Frank travelled in it. They arrived in Battleford on April 9, 1906, filed his homestead, which had previously been spotted by his half brother George. It was a wonderful trip to the homestead. It was a beautiful spring, sleeping under the stars and thinking of the wonderful future, was a heavenly feeling. Those few days are one, "I would re-live, if I could" he said. The first year was spent building a sod house, digging a well, and digging rocks to break up required number of acres. "I can well remember walking to and from Battleford with a friend"-those are his words. On November 9, 1909 he was married at St. Paschal's Church by Fr. Krist. The following year he sold his homestead, which was located half a mile east of Leipzig, and moved west. He acquired a second homestead or "script" as it was called in the Evesham area. In 1919 he moved again to the Denzil area closer to school.
