Page 676Leo Ganie and his parents moved to Canada from the United States in 1906. They settled in the Tramping Lake area, later moving to Revenue. Katie and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Schille came to Revenue in 1916 from the United States.
Leo and Katie were married at Revenue in 1925 and farmed in the Wilkie area. While farming at Wilkie their three children were born. Margaret in 1928, John in 1930, Ed in 1932 and Viola in 1935. In the spring of 1935, they moved to Tako to farm where Tony Barth lives. In 1941,, they moved to Muddy Lake to farm there for a few years. In 1948, Katie and Leo moved to Unity, where Katie still resides. Leo passed away in 1977.
In 1940, Leo bought a Model "T" and in 1941 the family decided to take a trip to Meadow Lake to visit Katie's brothers. The family left home at 4 o'clock in the morning, driving over dirt roads, through muskeg to reach the farm 40 miles west of Meadow Lake, arriving at 11 o'clock that night, a 19 hour dirve. In the winter Katie's brothers would bring a load of fish down to Revenue by horse and sleigh. The trip would take three days to travel one way.
