MERKOWSKY, VINCENT - Russo-German.  Came to his father's homestead, with his parents, from Rosthern over the trails via Saskatoon and Battleford.  They built their sod dwelling after arrival and broke prairie with both horses and oxen.  Holding were increased to 320 acres.  Mr. Merkowsky has lived at the same place in this district for fifty years.  There are three sons, Lawrence, Allan and Leonard and six daughters, Marie Loerzel, Sister Julie, Sister Zita, Gloria, Antonia and Diane.
