      SCHMIDT, LOUIS and ANNE

Louis Schmidt and Anne Kobelsky were married October 27th, 1941 at St. Pachal's Roman Catholic Church at Leipzig. We lived on SE-12-38-19-W3rd for 10 years then moved to SE-6-38-19-W3rd in 1951. We farmed in this area and raised cattle, pigs and chikens. We shipped cream in five gallon cans and a cream truck would pick it up twice a week during the summer months.

I went to Pascal School and received my Grade 8 Certificate of Promotion to Grade 9 in 1933. Unable to continue high school due to hard times, I worked at home.

We had seven children, four girls and three boys. Audrey, Donald (1943-1944), Helen, Lucy, B. John, Jane, and Jeffry. Audrey, Helen, Lucy and John attended Pascal School until it closed in 1959. The school bus started to pick up all the children and took them to Leipzig School. Jane and Jeffry started school in Leipzig and completed their grades in Wilkie.

Audrey and Lucy obtained their respective degrees in nursing. Lucy worked in Saudi Arabia from 1983-1984 for a period of 11/2 years in a paediatric ward in a hospital. Helen had a career as a medical secretary and Jeffry as an electrician.

We also have sever grandchildren. Jill, Jason and Bruce are children of Audrey and Bill MacKenzie. Melaine and Carlene, children, of B. John and Luella Schmidt. Myles and Kylie are children of Jane and Bill Brown. Helen and Ron Moen have no family.

Louis loved to play ball with local ball teams also with his children in the evenings. He took them out skating on frozen lakes. After standing on their feet with skates on, they slowly learned to skate.

Louis passed away after a lengthy illness at the age of 75 years on August 20, 1983.
