Salvatore N. Doria was born on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day of 1900. At least that is what he always told his grandchildren. It was supposedly to explain his middle name: Nazareth. His death certificate says that his father's name was Nazarino, which calls this into question. In any event, Salvator emigrated about 1914 from Sava, Italy.
Sal was a cobbler by trade, and a popular emcee for social events by night. He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus.
His marriage to Theresa Guadagnoli was an arragement made between Sal and his brother-in-law, Tony. Teresa was resentful of her brother's meddling - and had a photograph of her heart's desire that she cherished all her life.
